Losing patience . . .

Once again, Google blogger has informed me that I no longer have enough space for any more pictures.  I think I may be going to move my blog to a different provider, so watch this space . . .

We have had a busy week here, and several early starts.  I am feeling somewhat jaded this morning.  I had planned a stroll up the hill to pick whatever pathetic blackberries I can find, but I've just looked out of the window and it has started raining . . .  Damn - that means I have a date with the ironing instead!

Anyway, last night's rain drove one of our wanderlust cats back home, as Jarvis reappeared on the scene after a heavy belt of rain had arrived and done its worst.  He'd been gone about four days, little wretch, but will be tucked up on our bed later on, with his head on my pillow (there is a patchwork quilt between he and it.)  His brother Alfie has been a bit lost without him.  He doesn't get the same wanderlust and is always around the house or garden.  They will be thundering up and down the stairs once I leave the kitchen door open.

We thought that little Ban would be lurking up in the attic once the rain had driven her in last night, but when we came out into the hall, there was a rustling of newspaper and we found her in one of the two bags of screwed up wrapping paper we had retrieved from amongst the car boot china yesterday.  She was as warm as toast and had she not moved, would probably have been totally overlooked and spent the night there!

I had one REALLY positive discovery over the weekend - how much singing will help my Asthma.  I haven't sung for years and yet I used to love singing along when we were playing folk music CDs.  Anyway, having been belting out an accompaniment that sounded rather like a sack of stray cats, I did my peak flow and found it had shot up from 350 to 400!  Now 400 used to be my peak flow average pre all these chest infections.  The woman who was formerly my Doctor told me before I left her practice that I would never reach 400 again.  Well lady, how wrong can you get?!  However, I have also discovered that if you spend the day at a car boot sale and forget to drink the big bottle of water you took with you, dehydration is sufficient to knock this back to 360.

We have had a positive week in many ways though, with our son and heir returning safely from foreign parts.  He is job-hunting in Swansea today and planning to leave home and get a flat/house share with friends and next year, he and his best mate intend to work in Australia and/or New Zealand.  We knew that something along these lines would happen once he had realized that the world is your oyster.

We really WILL be rattling around here once he leaves.  How I wish a buyer would come our way . . .

  1. I'm so happy your son is home safely on UK soil again. It's hard when they spread their wings, as indeed they must. I am missing mine a lot.
Regarding the photo fiasco, we uninstalled both chrome and picasa, which has helped a bit. I am resorting to adding pics via the "html" tab, which is slow as you can only add one at a time.

  2. Singing really does help your breathing BB. Especially if you can breathe with your diaphragm and gets lots of air into your lungs as you go :-) It also boosts the endorphins, which can`t be a bad thing on a rainy day!

It`s good to hear that both D and Jarvis have returned to the fold. Wishing D the best of luck with his job hunting.

Hmm - I don't use Picasa (still with old-fashioned Photobucket) and neither do I have chrome . . . and I have only EVER been able to load one photo at a time! I am obviously so adrift of what I could be doing computer-wise . . .

DW - It's good to have my wanderers home. It would be great if D could get a job as I know how much he wants to move out now.

I shall get back to the singing later! I want to watch the Wartime Farm programme I missed last week (it's where I used to ride and walk as a child and an adult, so I know it very well).

  4. I've heard that about singing but had completely forgotten about it. It was a R4 programme saying what miraculous results it had had, so keep singing!

So glad you have your son back safely, It seems like a few days ago you were worrying about him going away. As for the picture thing, I have never had a not like that and I have them much bigger than you so I wonder what on earth is going on. I didn't even realise there was a restriction.....very worrying. I often load six or seven at a time and we have a terrible broadband connection so there must be something untoward going on with yours. I really feel for you!

  5. Em - I fear it is my very geriatric "sit up and beg" computer - about 8 or 9 years old now, and despite updates and things, it is feeling its age (I know how it feels!) BTW, I haven't forgotten about sending a thankyou for your lovely photo. My brain just isn't together in the mornings when I am planning my day . . .

  6. I think the picture thing is because Google stores your photos on Picasa and wants to charge when you go over the 1000 picture limit.

  7. Do you have a Flickr account? If you have you can link to your photos in it and then thre's no limits. (It's how I got round it).

  8. The way I do things now AJ, is to load up my photos from my camera onto my computer and from there, load them onto my blog. Sometimes I will load special ones up onto Photobucket. It seems a bit of a pain loading photos (it would have to be individually too, as we have such slow broadband here in the back of beyond) onto Flickr then onto my blog . . . Or am I being my usual gormless self when it comes to technology?!!!

  9. Hi Jennie, I had to install Chrome on my computer, Eblogger refused to work otherwise. Also, I reduced the pixels of my photos from about 3000 to 1000, there are pixel reducers out there somewhere! I use paint shop. Still try Wordpress as well, will help if needed, but it is not too difficult a learning process........
