Back from my travels

I'm back home now, and can report I made it up this steep hill with just one stop (it goes on out of sight!)  I had a lovely weekend with Tam, who led me astray (I can't remember the last time I was in a pub during the day!)

Just two photos to whet your appetite. I'll be back tomorrow with some more.

  1. Glad you had a good time. I know Steep Hill quite well having trundled up and down it quite a bit over the years. There is a family connection to Steep Hill as well.

Glad you are back safe and sound

  2. The only time we went to Lincoln it was SO hot, we all struggled up that ill, had to have all the windows in our caravan wide open all night.
I'd love to go again sometime

  3. I remember the lovely tea shop not far from the top of the hill. They had so many different kinds of tea and tea cups and leaf holders - I'd love to go back. I didn't have long to look round the cathedral the day we were there as the training session I was facilitating didn't finish until 3.30pm. The guide was really helpful and showed us the rose windows and I think I came out with another green man for my collection. The best bit of our visit was to the second hand bookshop opposite the cathedral. I'd noticed a jar of honey in the window and asked if there was any chance of buying some beeswax as I was completely out and needed some for my herbal salves. The owner's daughter very kindly came back from her grandmother's that night (interrupting her holiday) and made me 15x1oz blocks and only charged me for 12. We stayed at the wonderful hotel overlooking the cathedral and ended up being asked by the chef if I'd do some training on herbal vinegars but it never happened. The next time I was training in Lincoln we were down in the bottom end of the city on the caravan site and it was too exhausting and hot to think about visiting the cathedral area again but maybe in the future.

  4. How lovely you all have such lovely memories of Lincoln. I have to say the city had a nice atmosphere and the folks were very friendly. One of the things which excited me (and I shall mention it again when I put up the photo) was the connection of the city with T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) after I noticed a blue plaque on the wall of Brown's Pie Shop. This after we had eaten wonderful steak pies for lunch at a Pie Shop further down the hill!
