A worrying day

I didn't sleep well last night, as I had L. Whale shut in the living room with an ablutions tray, as he was due at the vets this morning, to have his claw treated.  He didn't want to go in the car carrier and I had to upend it and pour him in.  I've just picked him up now, and he was yowling for sympathy on the way back, but the moment I let him out in the kitchen, he hobbled (he has a dressing on) across to the nearest feed bowl and stuffed his face.  I have now lifted him up onto the sofa.  He has a limp but not surprising as the outer claw removed and proud flesh treated, under anaesthetic.  I asked them to trim all his other claws too, as he's not keen on letting me near!!

We have a threat of snow.  I do hope they are wrong!  I want spring!! 2 minutes later - it's sleeting!

I have hardly been at home all day as I have been backwards and forwards to the computer repair place as well as the vet's.  My computer had acquired a pretend McAfee threat, so needed sorting, and I have had to move to Chrome for browsing as for some reason Google Blogger had had a hissy fit and we couldn't work out why the photos wouldn't present as they should so I could load them.  So I spent the hour or so I did have at home knitting and have done E. Bunny's other ear and sewn the inner and outer together and now I'm on the other arm.  I watched another repeat of Ben Fogle's New Lives in the Wild, and was just starting on the 2nd half of the Great British Throw Down when I had to go and collect my computer.  Some more of that tonight and carrying on with the Roman Empire by Train with Alice Roberts.

Tea tonight is the other half of last night's boughten chicken curry.  Just the thing for this perishing weather.

Anyway, one more photo from Brecon Museum and I will put some more up in the morning.

This modern carving of Red Kites in flight, has Ogham on the side (the straight bars) and is a nod to the Early Christian Monuments upstairs.

  1. Wow, the red kites carving is amazing.
Cats know how to make a fuss. Glad he's sorted.

  2. I thought it had a lot of energy in it. We have so many Kites in this area - truly blessed for that.

L.W. is very sore, I will give him that. He has kicked off his dressing already! but will doubtless manage to make it up onto my bed tonight, along with the other 3.

  3. Cats - who'd have them. When I take Sheva to the vets anyone would think I was going to murder her, and when I've managed to get her into the basket, have to protect the back seat of the car in plastic as she's either sick, wees or both. Managed to get Iris's birthday pressie today, a Pandora bracelet and a couple of charms, not cheap but she's worth it and she was so thrilled to be choosing what she wanted. But Granny has bought it home until 1st March. Perishing cold here. Hugs Xx

    1. We are fortunate as being barely 5 minutes from the vet's. He travels well, but was telling me last night to go faster as he was Very Hungry!! When we moved from Ynyswen to here, it was 50 miles and there were wee's and poo's on the way. We had the windows wide open . . .

I bet Iris felt so grown up choosing the charms for her bracelet.

  4. Poor Kitty. Two of my cats have been to the vet. I creep up behind them to bundle them into the carrier. I don't know what would happen if I have to take the third one. He would fight and I would get scratched. Let's hope he stays healthy.

    1. Gloves on for your third one then. Mine wouldn't think of scratching but are reluctant as they know they are going Somewhere and would rather be at home, thankyou very much.

  5. Even a cat who is enfeebled can resist going into the cat carrier--and Little Whale obviously didn't think being tipped in was to his best interest! I've kept cat wounds or stitches clean with a bit of hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball--unless there is deep infection that seems to help after a surgery.
I've recently noticed McAffee trying to get me to 'bite' on a fake virus infection . One could wish a dire 'pox' on the individuals that sit in a dark room dreaming up viruses, fake news, porn--whatever!

    1. Today he is keeping a stiff upper lip and refusing his breakfast with Medication. I think, looking at all the empty bowls this morning, that he went round hoovering up leftover biscuits in the night and isn't really that hungry! I will get some gravy cat food shortly and try and tempt him with that later. He is currently up on the wide windowsill in my sewing room.

Like you, I wish a pox on the bods in dark room with nothing better to do. Your description pretty well matched what the computer man said!

  6. Poor baby LW. If he won't wear the dressing must he have a cone or donut? What is an ablutions tray?

GReat that you have a shop to fix your computer.

    1. No cone etc needed. The dressing flew off after a particularly vigorous leg shaking an hour after he got back. He isn't bothered with licking it or anything. The ablutions tray was just a small litter tray.

Handy having the bloke in the town able to fix problems on my computer. Normally Tam will sort smaller things, but possible viruses have to be done by an expert.

  7. Computers and cats in the same day, what a nightmare. Our cat had to be manhandled into the carrier. She absolutely hated the car. Screamed like a banshee the whole journey. Our poor dog would start whimpering once she realised she would be travelling alongside the cat. I understood her feelings completely.

    1. Yes, my day was pretty well spoken for. I did at least clean the freezer container shelf.

Some cats really get stressed over travelling. I often wondered how the Snowbirds managed, if they had cats and were going across the States down to Florida for the winter, with a screaming cat in the back!

  8. L. Whale does not look at all impressed. Love the carvings.

    God bless.

    1. He was pretty good though. Came up on my bed in the night too, so isn't really disabled. The carvings are stunning. I have a friend who makes them and she always has orders.

  9. Oh poor Little Whale! I hope he heals quickly. Hope you don't get too heavy a snowfall.

    1. Brecon and environs had about 5". We had just a smattering - below us the fields are all green, but we are right on the snowline and above us all is white.
