Final St Dogmael's post
Finally, some interesting early Christian Monuments, and elements of the ruined abbey are in a room beyond the cafe area, with explanatory boards. Enjoy. Another castle in the next post.
Yes it was a very interesting tour, notice that the stones are from the Preselis, I wonder if the 'bluestones' of Stonehenge will ever be truly identified as well.
The stones and carvings are amazing. Thanks so much for the pictures giving information - a fascinating read which I really enjoyed. The abbey looks such a wonderful place to visit.
Interesting tour of the abbey. And your cover picture is so refreshing makes me want to find a river to wade in.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the pieces from the Abbey. The header photo is our river, just down our (steep!!) hill.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting. I too love the header. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a very beautiful valley Jill. A shame the people viewing our house don't seem to notice it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely tour.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I think everyone is "stoned" now Jackie, so a castle post next for stone bits of a different kind!

ReplyDeleteObviously of some significance - not that far away really, but far enough if you have to move a big chunk of dolorite!

ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to going back there, and also exploring some Ogham stones at Bridell and Cilgerran.
