Yesterday? A write off. Tam did say that I could well have an off day on the back of my good one and she was right. I can only assume that my body got hit by suddenly having no steroids. I didn't even go outside - just so tired and had to sleep morning and afternoon too. The steroids have brought my appetite back and I have suddenly put on 3 lbs almost overnight, which I could do without.
I was in bed by 8.30 p.m. and STILL AWAKE at midnight. Bladder in overdrive too. Awake at 3 a.m. and now downstairs (4.40). I am so fed up. Can we fast forward to Spring please?
I discovered a new-to-me programme on tv, Great British History Hunters, and watched a couple of episodes of that yesterday. It deals with the finds of metal detectorists, and boy are there some lucky ones out there! Imagine finding this:
The amazing Shropshire sun pendant, a Bronze Age piece which was cast into a bog 3,000 years ago and found by a lucky detectorist in 2018. For some reason this had not crossed my horizon. Just look how skillfully it had been worked and by a master craftsman who had only his sharp eyesight and skill to make it. (Photo copied from Portable Antiquity and Heritage Issues Blog).
At least these programmes cheered me up a bit. I am just so cheesed off with being stuck in the house and can't even drive far until washer jets sorted.
Anyway, some very good news for Wales, as the Tour de France is returning to the UK and the route through Wales comes down from Newtown to Cardiff, via Llandod and Builth!!! Not till 2027 but that will be something exciting to look forward to.
More of the Pippi picture has been sewn, and I am on the pond now. I will have to measure it up and look for a little frame for it in the charity shops.
So, not a lot to report. I hope I will feel a bit more with it today - despite the lack of sleep.

It is too easy to overdo things when ones body starts going in the right direction!
ReplyDeleteJust been doing a little reading...I think we may be in survival mode as it is called. Be kind to yourself...we will get through this!
Doesn't the TdF start in Scotland? We will be having a good year!! If we can't easily get to Europe... Europe is coming to us, accompanied by the rest of the world!!
Making the bed was the only demanding thing I did, and I rested during that. I think it was the sudden non-steroidness that put the brick wall in my way. I do indeed agree - survival mode, both for health and grieving still.
DeleteYes, the TdF will undoubtledly start up your way, but we get it SO close here. I know the route they will take and they will be facing some daunting hills!
P.S. Does that mean we will see it on telly here - as last year I think it went subscription to watch?
DeleteSo sorry you are still not 💯, it must be frustrating.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon x
Alison in Devon x
Feeling positive this afternoon/evening. A bit tired but nothing like as low. A couple of good nights' sleep and I will be mending properly. Have T&R here tomorrow, so that will be a real boost to me.
DeleteI rejoiced to read about your busy day, but pondered whether a 'relapse' might be in order after so many tasks accomplished. January gets long and cold and a mite depressing without having health issues as well.
ReplyDeleteHang in there--spring does always come!
I'm still rather "feak and weeble" for so much sitting around, but gosh, getting out today was such a boost. I dare say having galloping Rosie here for the weekend will put me back on my hunkers. We shall see :) First tentative signs of spring today - which is wonderful.
DeleteHope you have felt better as the day's gone on. Perhaps a rest day will sort you out again
ReplyDeleteYes, now feel as I did two days ago - on a high, and happy.
DeleteHope you feel better. Here is a you-tube detector video that is free to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-ENnMAgzGo
ReplyDeleteOh thank you Anon. I think that's one of the ones I watched last night. That lad (Paddy) is hooked for life, that's for sure!! Treasure hunting :)
DeleteYou seem to be taking two steps forwards, then 3 steps back where your health is concerned. Maybe because you feel better you are overdoing things. I managed to change the bed, then we went for a wander round TK Maxx/Homesense. I bought a blue and white striped top (partial to stripes) and a fold up set of steps. I can now reach the top shelf of kitchen cupboards, I think I'm shrinking. Take care. Hugs. Xx
ReplyDeleteI felt I was making very little progress, but since finishing the meds, they have knocked the infections on the head (touch wood). Just need to catch up on sleep and start walking daily again. I walked myself straight past TK Maxx today . . .
