A Worrying Day

My neighbour is lending a hand with the painting, and got the guest bedroom window done today.  What a difference it makes.  Only trouble is, as he pointed out, the interior wood is also dark brown so I will have to get going on that next . . .  Ditto the French windows and the front door . . .

I painted most of the Georgian side door before S needed the blue paint.  I will finish it tomorrow and paint the Utility room window (also brown on the interior for the moment).  I cleaned the windows and paintwork on all the ground floor windows too.  Then I went upstairs and scrubbed all the soap off the shower glass as it was a job I had put off too long.

I have had to keep busy today as Rosie hasn't been able to drink much and Tam and Jon had to take her to A&E, where they've been most of the day.  Rosie seems to be recovering from the sickness and diarrhoea but doesn't want to drink, but she did eat at lunchtime, so let's hope she's on the mend.  However, she is now sleeping (they are in a side room as if she doesn't down all the Dioralyte, she will have to go on a drip.)  She had half of the 70ml (syringed) before falling into an exhausted sleep.  She needs to drink it all and then I think they might be able to go home.  Tam on worst day of HER S&D and is feeling ghastly and just wants to sleep, after so many disturbed nights with Rosie.  I wish I could help them.

I've just heard (7 p.m. ish) that they have seen the Dr and been discharged.  I bet they were blardy glad to hear that.  I now hope that Tam soon recovers too - it's been a dreadful day for her (and Jon).

  1. What is S&D? Such tribulations for this sweet little family. How hard it is to have a sick child, even in modern times. But the discharge is a positive! Hope both girls--maybe even Jon! can go home and sleep.

Your blue painting is gorgeous! That must lift your spirits. I'm picturing the interior trims a palest apple green, or will you safely go white.? So much energy you have!

  2. Sickness and diarrhoea Lizzy. She was sick in the car coming home too, so two steps forward and one back. I will be worrying all night now, and poor Tam flattened by this bug too, but having to grab herself by the scruff and carry on. Thank heavens Jon is there for them both (as yet hale and hearty).

The blue is cheering me up no end. I have gotten another job though, as the interiors of the windows are also dark brown so will need lightening. French doors included.

The blue paint is cheerful and a good choice!

    1. Well, they were glad to be home and just imagine, little carer Rosie, trying to feed her mum chips last night! Tam did the same to me, with a Banana, when Keith and I both so very ill with flu and taking it in turns to go to bed. I was on the sofa then and Tam just 4 yrs old. It seems Rosie has that same caring gene.

It is indeed cheerful - and after that dreary brown, SUCH an improvement.

  4. It’s going to look wonderful. Your neighbour’s done a good job. Interior woodwork can be a winter job.
Hope Rosie is soon on the mend. And Tam floored by it too.
Things not great here. S is going into respite care for two weeks starting Friday and during that period I will be dismantling our king size bed wooden bedstead to make room for a hospital bed. II’m also going to have a reset. My gut feeling tells me that things are progressing quite fast so I need to be at peace and accepting of that. Just find me a carer please. I know you had exactly the same problem. The price we pay for living in a beautiful rural area.
I love the blue paint. You are so brave with your colour choices but it’s going to look wonderful. Which room do the French doors lead into? They are definitely going to be worth all the fiddly painting. Sarah x

    1. Yes, two or three days of prepping and painting and I want my half of the job DONE and dusted soonest! The indoor painting can be saved for wet winter days.

I am so sorry to hear that S's illness is progressing quite fast - it was the same for Keith after he had pneumonia. The body never really recovers from having to fight such a bad infection. How I hope that you can get a carer - privately or through the Council, but as you say, they don't want to travel out into the country so as we age and need services, we pay a price for living in a beautiful area.

Glad you like the blue. Not everyone goes for bold colours but Keith bought out the side of me that loves intense colours. I have to say I will never have magnolia, grey, white as colour options in m y home. I am now looking at the paintwork on the end wall of the stairs, by the half-landing, and thinking how much longer can I bear that awful MUSHROOM colour?! And I'm not talking Fly Agaric!!

The French doors lead into my living room. They are painted brown both sides, so am going to repaint those (probably white). This used to be the coachhouse, hence the double doors.

You are always in my thoughts, dear friend. Sending (((HUGS))).

  5. The blue certainly make a difference, the house looks very bright and new with that colour. I can hardly wait to see all the windows and doors completed.

    God bless.

  6. It is horrible when a tiny one is ill and so exhausting trying to care for them. I hope things settle down soon.
I love the blue. It is really uplifting.
