I got thoroughly chilled at the Wassailing yesterday (we were stood around for nearly 2 hours before they went down to the orchard). I must have been brewing something as when I drove home, I couldn't warm up and in the house, I began to shiver and my teeth were chattering and I was in bed at 8.30, with about a dozen layers of quilts and blankets on top of me and a hotty botty (bed heater had been on too). It was a long night - my bladder was very painful and I was up and down to the loo all night, and had to take Ibuprofen in the end and finally slept a bit then.
Tam is coming over today. I tried to persuade her I was better just tucked up on the sofa but she insisted on coming to look after me. I think I will be sleeping most of the day . . . Wassailing post when I am better.
So sorry you are feeling unwell. Do look after yourself, take it easy and don't push to do too much. I am your age and don't do half the things you do. It is fine to be in the house sometimes doing very little. Take care. x
ReplyDeletethe trouble is {or so I have read and heard recently} is that a lot of viruses thrive on cold and damp weather conditions. So if you were harbouring any viruses that were brewing under the surface, you gave them the perfect conditions to emerge on. hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor thing. Keep warm with plenty of hot drinks and paracetamol. Good for Tam for coming over. I hope it’s not Covid which is very prevalent around here again so we’re keeping to ourselves as much as possible. I’ve been to a few organised wassails over the years when the children were small and we’ve happened to be visiting the Weald and Downland or National Trust places on the right day in January. I love the idea and always wassail my apple trees but I choose when and this year I seized the moment and did it on the balmy Monday afternoon this week under the full moon which was shining on the garden. I opened the very last bottle of cider made by the Garden Cider Company using my allotment apples and it felt magical. Feel better soon BB. We’re up and running but it’s grey and damp again. I’m finding lots of lovely things on iplayer to watch including the film of Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester. You know how much I love films with horses, carriages, stunning locations and beautiful interiors. This had it all including a feisty young Jane and a believable love story. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteDo hope you are feeling better soon. Tuck yourself up on the sofa with a cuppa, books and cats. If you are still a bit run down after everything that has happened you are probably open to every germ going. OH has just had his RSV jab, the Nurse told him its good he got it as hospitals full of people with it. I'm not old enough yet! Take care of yourself. Hugs Xx
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I hate when a lovely adventure goes south at the end. I hope that you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery. Charmaine
ReplyDeleteI hope you will be feeling more comfortable soon.
ReplyDeleteGetting chilled is never good for me--hits me with 'misery' in my back and that can quickly extend to bladder issues. You've put a lot of energy lately into helping Tam and Jon [all the dish washing!] travel, etc. I those of us with sleeping difficulties are more sensitive to changes of temp and humidity as well. Stay warm and quiet--if you have one of the thingys that can be heated in a microwave, keep it warm at your lower back. Tea, soup, cats [!] sofa and a book.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your kind comments. I've just started to shiver badly again(had a drink of water). Back to sofa and heated throw I think.
ReplyDeleteRest up J x hope you feel brighter soon Danette x
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing. Sounds like the flu or perhaps a UTI. Have you taken your temperature? All advice given already. Just hunker down and thank goodness for daughters.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you feel so miserable. Keep wrapped up and resting. I hope it passes quickly.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you are feeling so ill. I hope that you stay warm and start to feel better very soon.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh no, feel better. the virus shivers are so painful a nd exhausting. Do you think your UTI from a month ago is back? Good for Tam to come help. Let us know how you are when you can.
ReplyDeleteOnly just reading this on Monday - hope you have shook off the whatever it is. The older I get I've found it harder to get warm again after getting cold.
ReplyDeleteHope Tam has arrived to look after you
I hope you are soon feeling better, there's nothing worse than getting chilled to the bone.
ReplyDeleteThose heated throws are amazing aren't they. I bought Mum one for Christmas a couple of years ago and she only used it a couple of times before putting it back in the box and into her wardrobe. Now we're sorting out her bungalow I've claimed it for myself ... I should have done it much sooner.
