Here you go Tam fronm Llandod, when you reach this National Cycle Network sign, you are near the blackberries. You will probably have to be quick though, as the heavy rain we had last night has knocked a few off.
The humidity is very high today - about 78 - which didn't help my breathing any when I was out on my walk. I had zero energy as well, as Rosie is cutting the last big molars and wouldn't settle for bed until 11 p.m.! Poor Tam is exhausted as it would appear she has Long Covid - no energy, breathing very reactive to struggling with a difficult toddler - she really did NOT want to be strapped in her car seat. Poor Tam had to step away to try and get her breath back whilst I kept Rosie from escaping. She is very b-minded and determined, that little girl. A true Aries! Tam's also been losing her hair, and has a brain full of cotton wool. She went to the GP in February, but the Symbicort inhaler he gave her just made her breathing worse. I'm hoping she can remember to keep taking her iron tablets and then go back and have her health reviewed again.
Anyway, they are on their way home now, but Tam has forgotten her little cool bag so the contents of that will be chucked/eaten (I don't eat Avocado).
Before they left, we had a wander round the garden. One of Tam's Winter Squash has been cross pollinated by what appears to be something in the pumpkin line as it is round and orange, and NOT more tubular and grey, which her Winter Squashes were meant to be. The 3 ones on the other plant are the right beasties, but tiny and I doubt will get big enough to be worth harvesting before the colder weather knocks them back. My Telegraph cucumbers are big and fat at one end with a pathetic growth to lengthen at the other. Hmmm. This hot summer did not encourage them in any way.
I am going to sit down with my book now I've tidied up a bit. I have been organized and put the recycling out as they are coming round earlier now and I don't want to be rushing in the morning.

Rosie has gorgeous eyes but she does look a handful. Poor Tam, energetic youngster to cope with and being ill at the same time.

DeleteThank you, you've been amazingly helpful. Can't get there till Wednesday, when the weather forecast to be a nice day, fingers crossed. Locksmith tomorrow to change the lock on the flat door, which I should have had done earlier but so there has been much to sort out with the move. Haven't got a fixed time so will do exciting stuff like ironing till he gets here! Meeting my sister in Brecon on Tuesday as it is the halfway point between us and we havent met up for a couple of months. Poor Tam and Rosie, teeth as we know are no joke are they. I've always said that they are a design fault and trying to do the everyday when not feeling 100% yourself is exhausting. Really hope the Dr's come up with something to help. I went for a walk this afternoon locally and the air felt quite dead and hard to breathe in. Very muggy, don't know if it's air pressure, humidity, neither or both.

I haven't ironed all summer when it was just Too Darn Hot, so it is almost adventurous now :) I did not enjoy today's walk - no energy and no air.
Hope Tam can get to a doctor and get sorted. Rosie looks full of mischief in that photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the man coming to do the gutters isn't here as early as 7.30 tomorrow morning as per text message - nearer 8.30 would be better .
She said she has to finish her course of Iron, but the brain fog keeps making her forget to take it.
Delete7.30 for gutters - no, that's not ideal. I hate having to set the alarm these days, even though I am a morning person.
Poor Tam, its no joke not feeling 100% when you have a recalcitrant toddler. Christopher played to the audience last night in the restaurant, and wanted to walk. We have him tomorrow and I can see everything will be going 'up' and I must find the stairgate! Just watching the Athletics from Budapest, and we enjoyed the last night of the Proms, but not Sheridan Smith as Dolly Parton. Hope your back is on its way to getting better. Xx
ReplyDeleteNo, and Rosie is not good at sleeping through the night either, once you can actually GET her to bed. Teething is no fun. Glad that Christopher is finding his legs, but there is a time and a place!!

ReplyDeleteNo, you're right there. The only time I can remember being "too ill to cope" was when Keith and I both had a bad bout of flu at the same time (around 1990 I think). We had to take it in turns to go to bed, and the other one would be laid on the sofa in the same room as the girls. I can remember Tam trying to stuff a banana in my mouth, telling me "You've GOT to eat mummy"!
DeleteI’ve not done any blackberry picking in years though I see lots of people doing it round here, much as I like them I really can’t face the thorns or getting my hand go blue plus my wife is worried about the bugs on them. My followers list has not updated for four days now, seems they are trying to sort out the problem which is taking ages
ReplyDeletePick carefully and wash hands well after :) I have never found any bugs in/on blackberries. I wash them well before cooking and anything on them is washed off/cooked to smithereens!

Ps long covid effects me at times and I feel I could just sleet half the time
ReplyDeleteYes, I think Tam visits me so I can share the child care and she can rest a bit. She also comes to use the bath as they only have a shower at home and she is a bath person.

ReplyDeleteYes, and it's been going on for such a long time - she didn't even go to the GP until February, and she had had it for a while before then. A "nasty cold" was what she thought she had at the time.
