Home alone again

Tam and Rosie left yesterday, with the latter having a hissy fit about being strapped into the car seat as she wanted to carry on "driving" the car as she had been whilst we were packing it.  She was past her sell-by date, tiredness wise.  Tam was nearly in tears as her wrists were so painful (a return of the Carpel Tunnel pain/weakness she had when pregnant) and I have to say I breathed a sigh of relief when they were on their way.  When you are unwell, it is hard to hold it together with a houseful of family and last night I was exhausted and in bed by 8p.m. and slept 11 1/2 hours . . .

Rosie is SO gentle with the cats and here she is giving Alfie a little snuggle.

We intended to download the photos from my Panasonic DC-FZ82 yesterday, but I have changed my computer this year and it doesn't have a port for the original connector - which seems to have gone missing since NZ anyway.  So I will have to buy another.  Annoying.

I still have mucky eyes, so will have to use the gungey eye "glue" from Boots again.  Cough almost gone, sinuses still hanging in there.  I may go to Llandod later on, just to get out of the house and get some fresh air and stretch my legs.  I need some fresh veg, so that's my excuse.

Gabby made me laugh with her surprise present for me (non craft one) as she got me a splendid 1L Thermos flask because I had been really cold at the last Malvern fair, but too mean to pay £2 for a cup of tea (I ask you, hot water, teabag and a glimpse of milk).  It will be put to good use.

I need to have a burn up of boxes and wrapping paper today too and vacuum up needles from beneath the tree, which suffered mightily after visiting toddler grabbed a bauble and pulled the tree over . . . (Lovely friends of Tam & Jon's visited on Saturday).

I would like to make a start on the cat embroidery today.  I will see how I feel this afternoon.

  1. I really hope all the remaining nasty health things are gone ASAP.

The 4 year old grandson was here yesterday before they left for Surrey, he had a meltdown too - 5 days of late nights and crazy days with cousins - all got much too much for him.

  2. Well, I managed to get a reasonable amount of jobs done this morning. Had to nap this afternoon though.

Rosie doesn't sleep well at the best of times, and with this cold, and eye-teefs coming through, has slept even worse.

  3. Wonder if you've got what I had? Remember I had conjunctivitis for about two or three weeks, could not shake it off and many around these parts here had it too. Hope it clears up soon, it was very unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Afraid the PD is taking hold on my sense of sound, or should I say noise? I have noticed I cannot tolerate certain things any longer, mind I couldn't tolerate much of things such as tv shopping channel presenters with their high pitched screeching "check out your baskets NOW!" or the omnipresent canned laughter on comedy shows.
Happy to report that appointments are already being made, as a result of my mishap, and have one on Wednesday, so will be doing a blog update on that later tonight.

  4. Well I've had this three weeks, and it's mainly been on my chest/throat/sinuses. The eyes are an add-on.

Sorry that the sounds are annoying you. Adverts are always so much louder anyway and I have never enjoyed canned laughter.

SO pleased that appointments are being made, so look forward to your blog post (and hopefully some news to say you are being listened to and helped).

  5. I'm not surprised that Rosie is gentle with the cats. So many small children are allowed to 'mux' and maul at animals, but you and your family have doubtless modeled the correct loving behavior. I'm sorry that the aftermath of your delightful holiday is this prolonged battle with a respiratory infection. The pace of travel seems to wear one down and leave one vulnerable to the germs other travelers have deposited along the way. I'm hoping that with the holidays over you will begin to feel restored to health.

  6. Children taught to be gentle from first touch of a cat in this house. There are two dogs at Jon's house and sometimes she gets the patting mixed up with the soft strokes, but soon remembers when we say "gently".

Yes, it took the edge off the holiday memories being poorly for the following month. I had a rough night again with the last of the cough, which had gone very tickly. No actual infection, needing a/b's, just lots of gunk in lungs and sinuses. I have lost a few more ounces and gone into the next marker nearer 10 1/2 stone . . . It was the 24 hour flight coming home which brought me to my knees.

  7. I use an SD card reader sometimes and your laptop may have a port you can put one in if you cannot get a cable. I have cables coming out my ears and end up throwing the dam things out. I got a copy of Forgotten churches on Kindle

  8. BTW if you have an Android phone then try the charging cable off that

  9. I bought a cable Billy. I have a bowl of "useful" cables in the kitchen, and bought back the one for the camera but it wasn't with it in the box. Grrrr.

Glad you got Forgotten churches. You will enjoy. He's been to some churches I know.

  10. So kind of Alfie to allow himself to be cuddled…. Our childhood cat gave my brother some leeway in gentleness — that was true love!!
