Right now, happy just to stay resting over the next month as the cold, whilst not a bad one at all, has added to the tiredness levels and I don't want to do anything.
I've just taken the car down for MoT and Pam gave me a lift back. I have asked my neighbour if he can drop me down again this afternoon - or tomorrow if we have to wait for parts.
I am now signed up for an afternoon's course in water colour painting (Tam is doing it with me, in Aber). Waiting to hear if there are places on a couple of other courses there too.
On Instagram I have followed lea_and_elfie for a good while. They are spinners and weavers and make wonderful textiles. I am considering one of their courses too, perhaps the Art Journal Book Making course. They live about 40 miles from me.
Anyway, I now have some things to look forward to, even in bleak January (the afternoon arty things in Aber).
My sofa awaits . . .
Suitably rested, I have just been choosing my own piece of Dartmoor. It is a jug from Joss at Powdermills Pottery. Keith and I would always visit when we were down at Postbridge, and we bought my huge Thomas Toft charger by Carole Glover. I am now negotiating which one I will buy myself as my Christmas present from me, to me. Cut me and I bleed Dartmoor, so as this is made from Dartmoor river clays, and in Dartmoor, it can't get any more "me".

Aren't they pretty those cottages. Have a rest and then think of courses for the New Year, no point in exhausting yourself.
ReplyDeleteI could move in straight away! Rested all morning, made some soup with some of the freezer contents, and hope I feel better tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAfter all you've been up to and the distances you've travelled, staying home and cosy for a while sounds like a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteYes, I spent the afternoon doing family history - Keith's Manx ancestors. I have only just turned the heating back on.
DeleteJust rest, your body has had a shock.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is good to rest up but I just wish I felt better. That said, I am a bit more with it this afternoon than I was this morning.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely treat yourself, glad you are a bit more with it, but maybe after the couple of years you have had, your body is saying REST. Some food shopping done, after waiting in for a Royal Mail parcel. Some deliveries round here left on doorsteps have gone walkabout. Managed to get a nice boiling ham with a good date and the Christmas Radio Times - £6.50, but its the only one I buy as my Granny always bought it. Take care. Hope your car passes its MOT. Xx
ReplyDeleteResting isn't something I often do either. I am feeling a bit perkier this afternoon and have found the Tesco giant fish fingers which will make a quick tea. Car failed - knew it would, if only on the pump for the windscreen washer. Needs a bulb and a wishbone too. Could have been worse. Radio Times - that hasn't darkened my door since we moved to Wales!
DeleteI've been following along but I've been rather under the weather myself and not commenting. The cottage with the gingerbread gables is so me. I've forced myself to do some baking and discovered the oven in the "new to me" house is very unreliable. I will have to borrow, last resort buy, a thermometer to check the temperature. I've sent Mum baking to my son and daughter for a few years at Christmas but this batch leaves much to be desired. I'm just hoping the grandchildren will chomp on them regardless. I do love to buy myself a Christmas present. I haven't had a good think about it this year but now you have reminded me.... I too am planning a restful Christmas. I think they are wonderful for mind and body.
ReplyDeleterest up and take it easy, you've put your body through a lot in the last few weeks. I hope the Art class is lots of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing your work, we all probably are.
ReplyDeleteby the way, I have had a reply from my AM so I will be putting, his reply up on a new blog entry in the next few days.
What lovely cottages. I really need to finish baking in the next couple of days. I keep putting the last few items off.
ReplyDeleteHope the cold goes away soon, and you get to enjoy the "arty" classes.
God bless.
