Rosie's quilt

I couldn't wait to give Rosie this quilt and she was over the moon with it and put it on her bed straight away!  Anyone visiting the house has been taken through for a show-and-tell!

100 per cent hand quilted throughout.  I still marvel at those little Bear's Paw blocks!   The quilted border pattern is a Durham quilting one and Rosie's mum came from that area, so that gives a lovely link too.

Right now, I never want to pick up a needle again - my poor brain is still in neutral, but I've just had a link on my feed for The Other Bennet Sister on BBC iPlayer, and that looks SUCH fun, I am going to treat myself this morning.

Everything I wanted to do in the run up to Christmas has been knocked on the head.  I will be lucky to get the shopping done at this rate.

  1. The "bear's paw" blocks just set the whole thing off, connecting the centre and the block border...a masterpiece! That will be a lifelong treasure to be passed on

    1. I knew it wasn't right, but brain so pickled I couldn't think of the proper name! I am glad that it reminds Rosie of me every day, even when I'm not with her.

  2. Amazing work, are there some squares of William Morris design in it, looks like the pattern that is in some of our curtains. It's beautiful, no wonder Rosie is thrilled

  3. The quilt is beautiful and I'm glad Rosie was thrilled with it. Sorry you're not feeling much better, lots of bugs doing the rounds. Iris has chickenpox, with more spots appearing daily and also has some sort of tummy bug. We went to look after her this morning so Mumma could take foster baby C on a supervised visit with his Granny. Just hoping he doesn't catch it. Lots of handwashing has been done. Hope you feel loads better soon. Xx

I hope that the little one (or you two) don't get the Chickenpox.

  7. No wonder your friend Rosie is delighted with her quilt it's beautiful, I hope you are feeling very pleased with yourself it's OK to have pride in oneself after such a great achievement. Normally you would be an inspiration to me to get a quilt top I've had in a drawer these last two years, also hand appliqued and with pieced borders it needs layering up and quilting but is so hot here, maybe next winter I'll get to it.
Hope you start feeling better in time for Christmas. From Shirley in OZ

  10. That quilt is gorgeous! so beautiful. I'm sorry to hear you are still ill. There are lots of bugs going round, I had something viral in November which knocked me out for nearly 2 weeks!!! It wasn't even flu, I'm pretty sure. Just cough cough cough at first, then the throat, then blah blah, another thing. Like a very drawn out cold!!!
