A lovely family day

I had a houseful of my family here today and it was lovely.  Rosie's limp was better and she was bending the leg a little, but then after all the running around here, she was feeling sore by the end of the day.  Resting a bad leg does not come easily to almost 2 year olds.

I baked a loaf, made a Manderin Orange Cake, had made soup for whoever wanted it and had the boughten pizza.  I'd bought ice cream but Rosie so tired that she didn't want to eat anything.

"I" and Rosie looking for cats!

Danny before I set him to work!  I wanted a tidy edge put on the new bed at the back with the Hellebore and Boscobel rose in.  A job well done.  Before they left, I also got him to move my heavy sacks of bark chippings close to where they were going to be used.

Danny and "I" working out how the Wendy house went together.

It was soon put to good use and when it was time to go home, Rosie was crying out for "house" . . . I know she will really enjoy it.

Well, I haven't stopped all day, and have clocked up 9000+ steps!  I shall sleep well tonight.  So good to see the girls playing nicely together, and to have two thirds of my family here for the day.  I don't think I shall be doing much tonight!

  2. She will see a Rheumatologist soon. If they haven't had an appt. set by a fortnight's time, they have to chase it up. Rosie is able to bend the knee a little now - until she spends hours running around on it! "I" and I did some baking and she has gone home with chocolate buns to ice and shake sprinkles on. Her face lit up when she saw the little star sprinkles I bought specially.

  3. What a wonderful day! "I" and Danny came. Plus darling Rosie and I assume Tam. I has gotten so tall, how old is she now, 6 or 7? She seems a lovely child and I love how you include her and think of her, like w the special star sprinkles.
Isn't the wendy house just adorable.! And Danny is always a lovely strong garden helper, isn't hhe. Have a good well earned sleep.

PS they can give Rosie a soft knee brace, they go on w velcro. Helps support the child's knee and lessens overuse/ bending of the knee. Doctor or pharmacy should have. And children's liquid ibuprofen, Tylenol is useless for this sort of pain. [tho of course whatever her doc recommends.]

    1. "I" is 6 1/2 and has always been tall. She was good with Rosie. When she sees a specialist, we will know more about treatment (if any). Tam mentioned Ibruprofen, but hospital didn't suggest a brace.

  4. How lovely that you got to spend time with your family. Your grandgirls are lovely. Sleep well.

    God bless.

    1. Because of the impasse between myself and Danny's partner ("I" 's mum) I don't call myself her grandmother. I am sort of "just here". I didn't sleep very well, as worried about Alfie-cat who is losing weight and doesn't want biscuits . . .

  5. I hope Rosie's knee issues can be addressed and fixed soon. People used to lump such things under 'growing pains.' Anything out of the ordinary is worrying with a small child.
I can imagine the cats hiding in horror from two determined little girls!
    Mandarin orange cake sounds delicious!

    1. She was bending it, until after all the running around made it sore again. Yes, the cats were under beds or Outside until they had gone! Lulu didn't even appear at mealtime, but when I went to bed, oh goodness, she wanted fussies made of her and kept dabbing me whenever I stopped!

I will put up the Manderin Orange cake recipe again today. It is moist and tasty.

    1. It was a lovely day. Lifting heavy things is a challenge for me now. It was good to be outside so early in the year. Another nice day today so I am going to go and bother a church.

  9. You all have been very busy. I love the wendy house, at that age I would've wanted one so bad.
