Elderberry Bunny takes a bow

She is far from being perfect - an excuse the angle that makes one arm look twice the size of the other (it isn't).  Her eyes are a bit starey as I didn't have (amongst the dozens) any dark eyes of the right size - or even matching.  Her feet were meant to poke to the front, but for some reason, though I followed the pattern, she has feet pointing outwards!  Ah well, Rosie won't notice, and will love her, especially when the little basket is filled with mini chocolate eggs :)

I had a walk on the old railway line this morning, before it came on windy and rainy this afternoon.

All the yellow blobs of trees in the riverside woodland are Pussy Willow, whose silver paws are now full on yellow powder puffs.

Aren't they pretty?

Butterburs in flower by the Celandines.

The wet windy weather made me decide to use up the two Bramley apples I had on the side, and make an Eve's Pudding, and I chucked in some of the huge commercial blackberries and strawberries from the cheap bag of frozen mixed berries from Tesco.  That's what I make my Jumbleberry Jam with, but makes good puddings and additions to breakfasts too.  This was scrummy.

Poor Alfie had more blood taken this morning.  The vet phoned back at teatime and said that they had mixed readings about his kidneys and would know more if they could take a urine sample next week whilst he is sedated for teeth scaling.  It looks like he has stage 2 kidney disease. She also suggested that one of the other vets had suggested a scan of his stomach, just in case there was something amiss there.  Another £43.  I agreed, but said that I was widowed and a pensioner and didn't have endless supplies of money, so couldn't afford any other tests.  They know how to charge.  Anyway, last night Himself promoted his sleeping quarters to the other pillow beside me (Lulu cuddled my back instead and Pippi stayed in her nest downstairs, keeping LW company in the living room).  So now I have another week to worry about his problems.

A day out for Rosie's birthday tomorrow, when we take her to Borth zoo.  She will love that.

Off to watch Cadfael.

  1. Bunny is darling, you do beautiful work. Such a sweet funny face. And Rosie is two! Have a fun day out. / I didn't know pussy willow bloomed yellow like that, not that intensely. So wonderfully spring-like for you. Hopeful wishes for Alfie.

    1. Well, she is the first big toy I've knitted and the pattern was a bit ??? in places. I found it on the internet (to buy) and downloaded it. I've knitted little meeces which were in a women's magazine, and those were fun. I have a half knitted teddy upstairs - one my dear friend Annie was working on before she died. I must finish him now. She had done the head (the difficult bit). The Pussy Willow is lovely at this time of year.

  2. The bunny is adorable. We bred Californian rabbits, white with coloured ears, nose, tail and paws, and some were black, chocolate, or lavender point.

    1. Oh bless, she sounds like she looks a bit like one of those then :) The other patterns I have are for sewn toys. I shall have a busy summer doing those.

  3. You are SO clever! That bunny is a sweetie! (Pun intended) The fruit dessert looks delicious too. I'm presuming it's for Rosie's birthday (Happy Birthday Big Girl!)? Can you give me the information I'd need to get to the Cadfael Link please. I'm a huge fan, currently rereading The Raven in the Foregate. I hope you have good weather for the Zoo trip.

    1. I thought the bunny looked a wee bit amateurish, but Rosie won't care. The Eve's pudding was delish - sorry Rosie, you missed out on that one! I will make it regularly when they come as she will love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8dUqVl4YCw This is the American link for Cadfael, courtesy of Morning's Minion. I've been watching it in the UK on ITVX. Various episodes can be had via Youtube too. Sunny this morning - rain due later.

  5. Elderberry Bunny is gorgeous, little Rosie will adore her I'm sure, hope you have a lovely birthday outing with her. A few days ago you showed concern about the cyclonic weather here in Australia, it started off in far north Queensland traveled right across the Norther Territory and is now in the Kimberly area of far north Western Australia and due to track down the coast all the way to Perth and beyond thankfully losing intensity by the time it gets here but we should get some lovely rain over the weekend and strong winds. The rain is good but not the wind however what will be will be, by then it will have travelled about 3 to 4 thousand km. I think. We have very long distances here. The whole of the UK will fit into W.A. alone. From Shirley in Perth.

    1. Hi Shirley. I think Rosie will love her as she adores her cuddlies. I am relieved that by the time it reaches you, the cyclonic weather will be a lot less threatening. I know when I was flying over Australia (at night), it seemed to go on forever!

  7. Love that little bunny.
There was lots on the news yesterday about Vets having to be more open with what they charge - but even if they do I guess it will still be expensive.

    1. I can see why they wanted to do the extra test, but if were to come up with the worst result, then cleaning his teeth would be a waste of money . . .

  8. That is so cute your bunny for Rosie and so much better than any of my efforts were for Matilda.

  9. I've had to explain to vets over the y ears that while we are committed to doing what we can for the many stray waifs [cats] who come into our lives, we aren't able to finance pricey batteries of tests. Our cats are always spayed/neutered, have their initial battery of inoculations. When injured or ill they are taken to the clinic for treatment or medicines.
I can only imagine the work--and the following of instructions--that went into making that cuddly bunny.
Cadfael! I'm pacing myself on the videos. I'm about to start on the rereading of the 5th Cadfael omnibus. I remember collecting the small paperbacks years ago when mostly they were found at second hand book outlets.

  10. Well, it was starting to look like they would add on test after test. He is nearly 16. I would rather a scan to show what was amiss internally - that would make more sense. First cat I've had bloods done for, which shows how much loved he is.

  14. I just love the knitted bunny! So very cute. I'm sure Rosie will adore her. My little granddaughter is a big fan of rabbits, so much so that her mother has allowed her to keep a pet rabbit in the house in a custom cage LOL Bunny is kept very clean and is highly adored. When they go off on trips, it falls to me usually to take care of the pets. I learned the hard way that Bunny is very territorial and bites everyone except granddaughter!
