We went window shopping in Totnes once the crowds had left. There were some very tempting goodies on offer.
Aren't these fun? I loved the owl jugs : )
Doggie doodles . . .
The Vintage shop had a really crowded and fascinating window display . . .
. . . with lots of costume jewellery.
Isn't he splendid?
And thhis Cockerel was perhaps even more splendiferous!
This was as close as we got to the Castle, as it closed its gates late afternoon.
More gorgeous hanging baskets - this time in Bovey Tracey. This is the village where my dad grew up (chosen by grandad for its proximity to Hennock, where the family were from at least Napoleonic times through the reign of Queen Victoria.
Looking back down Fore Street.
A quiet corner of Bovey.
The Old Mill, now a Craft Centre and restaurant.
Up on the moor - Kes Tor.
Granite edges an ancient trackway.
A stoic hawthorn tree has a foothold in the peaty soil. Although anciently called the Forest of Dartmoor, apart from Wistman's Wood, there are few trees up on the high moor these days.
Reluctantly, we had to leave. Here is a wee cottage near Chagford.
Then it was back to normality - I am trying to catch up on all the jobs which didn't get done when I was ill back in the spring, and we are intending to Change Estate Agents . . .
