Sadly, a bad ending

I saw some of my friends again today, chatted to some lovely people, but unfortunately the nasty ones raised their ugly heads and when I was busy with another customer, someone from a particular community stole the better of the last two knives from Keith's collection, a Sheffield small Bowie knife with a good maker.  Well, all I can say is I hope that Karma comes round and bites him in the bum smartish.  I reported it to Security, but nothing they could do as I didn't know which individuals from this particular community came round again (having cased the joint, so to speak) .  All I know is I found it very distressing - not from the loss of the value of it (nearly £100) but because of the link with Keith.  I got quite choked up just telling the Security folk about it.  I am SO careful when these folk are about too, but it just takes a minute of distraction. . .  Meanwhile I am hoping that the Karmic punishment is a long erectile malfunction and/or (better AND) a dose of the Pox!

On the positive side, Bargain Hunt (with Kate Bliss and the Blue Team) looked at the Indian saddle tree I had on my stand and discussed it.  The cameraman came back later to take lots of photos of it, so it will be on one of the Autumn programmes (filmed at Builth).  It was just as well they didn't come back to buy it as I sold it 5 minutes later!!

Gabby was there in the afternoon, to help pack (it's two loads) and carried all the heavy tables that I struggle with so much.  We had a quick tea and now she's had to head for home as she is working tomorrow.  I would have really been exhausted without her.  I have to sort stock out tomorrow as I have a couple of empty boxes now.

  1. Oh Jenny. How awful for you. You need a locking case for the smalls. I wish you were close. We would build one for you.

  2. I have a spare one, but with just two knives it didn't seem worth putting them away and I had two small boxes of odds and ends already taking up room on that bit of the table. Gypsies - or didakois, just as bad, have no scruples. Many of them are fine, but sometimes they come in "from off" (Ireland quite often) and are just out for what they can get.
