Offended

Sorry to be M.I.A. but it's been a bit hectic here this week, with Tam and Rosie keeping me company.  Rosie is full of beans again and had one day where she didn't stop eating!  Tam says she wishes she was like that all the time.

Today we went to get cherries at Willersley and oh my goodness, they are DIVINE.  SO big and juicy.  Tam got two punnets - one for Jon, who loves them too.  Here is the back of the castle - we climbed up all the steps, after having ice cream sat on those same steps.  Yum.

Looking across to the Clock Tower from the Old Electric Shop, which Tam suggested visiting.

Inside the Old Electric Shop.  Some nice decorative items.

There were to be photos from the Craft Section of Booths, which I always take and share and give them free publicity.  NO MORE.  The minute we arrived in it, some girl was sent to go and "tidy up" on a table, to make sure we weren't nicking anything.  GOSH, it made me SO CROSS.  It was SO obvious as she was there until we left.  They have lost my custom now, that's for sure.  I didn't even have a bag, and Tam had Rosie strapped to her and no bag either.  Where were we going to stuff books, bolts of fabric or wool?  I don't like being judged as a thief when I've never , no more would anyone else.  So they can stuff their books and craft items where the sun never shines.

  1. One of the worst tasks I was assigned when I worked at CK Supermarkets was to tail people who were unfoundedly thought to be shoplifting. I did enough to keep the manager off my case, but did not last long in that job!

    1. Not a nice job. I mean, all we did was walk in and before we even got a chance to look at any books, Missy was sent to "keep an eye". They will lose customers fast if they do this all the time, or perhaps we just looked totally DODGY . . .

  2. Oh, it is so great that Rosie is feeling better. It is really upsetting that someone made you feel like that at the Old Electric Shop; nobody likes to be treated unfairly, especially when you are just trying to enjoy yourself.

    1. No, it was Booths Book Shop, NOT the Old Electric Shop. They were lovely in there and I got Tam a card for her birthday which she loved.

☺️ This is the most British thing I have heard all day. Sorry. I know it was stressful for you, but to me it just sounds sweet.

    1. Well, it pi**ed me right off! It probably is very British, and perhaps they have had shoplifting losses but blardy hell, I didn't even want to look at a book when they were like that.

  4. Being MIA is great if you're having fun and enjooying Rosie and Tam time. These early years are so precious, everything is new and exciting--cherries!

I'd be so offended too---tho as said above, maybe it was her assigned task.

    1. Yes, we've had a lovely time, but GOSH she is full of beans. I am feeling back to normal today, I'm glad to say, but it will be easier to relax once they have gone home again, though it will seem SO quiet.

  5. I was recently asked to remove my hat in a shop because they had had a lot of trouble with shoplifters and wanted everyone's face on cctv. Like you, I won't be favouring them with my custom again!

  6. Well, in small town Builth the big wide world doesn't impinge on us in quite the same way. Everyone knows everyone.

As my late MiL said, you can't cut my throat and put a sticking plaster on it . . .

  7. How insulting! If the attendant had been told to come over and ask "Can we help you?" it might've just about passed, but just sniffing around is plain RUDE. One of our local coffee shops has just lost three families by charging one of us 50c (25p) for the paper bag for the treats he was taking home for his 'knee replacement' wife!! That's us gone! It's easier to loose custom than gain it, silly people. Needless to say, new owners!

    1. I am still half tempted to email them with my complaint, but won't stoop to their level.

That coffee shop is very short-sighted to charge for the paper bag - for heaven's sake!

  8. It's possible that they are losing a lot of stock to shoplifters. I'm afraid it's a trend that has arrived in West Wales, so I imagine your area is just the same. People seem to think it's OK to just take what they want. Lots of videos of people slipping small items inside their trousers even!

  9. Oh gosh I would have been offended as well. Definitely worth an email, if you have the energy, just letting them know that their 'policing tactics' have now lost them a previously regular customer.
