New car

Thank heavens.  We have our new-to-us vehicle.  A very low mileage Nissan NV200.  A nice practical vehicle for us, in a mouse-grey.  It will get its first proper trial for the Fair this coming weekend, when we find out what (or rather how much!) we can stuff in it . . .

It will be bliss to have a working radio and stereo, and some lovely extra gizmo's which make the old Doblo look out of the ark . . .  Reversing camera for starters, variable slow wiper speeds, Blue Tooth thingy for mobile etc.  Most of all, just reliability though . . .

Hope you can get all the Fair stuff in

    1. It's normally two trips as the Botanic Gardens is a two day fair and we take furniture too. That will come on the 2nd trip, though sometimes we leave that until the Saturday morning as it doesn't take too much setting out.

  2. I think I'd feel right at home driving that van---errr--except for the right hand drive! I like the back up/rear view camera in our Honda--CR-V, also the option of heated seats, dual heat/cooling controls for driver and passenger, etc. How very spoiled we have become!
If the rear seats can be laid flat you can carry tons of things!

    1. I forgot to mention it has air conditioning too! We won't know ourselves! No heated seats though - my friend Dawn's car has those but sometimes they work so well they nearly set your btm alight!! The rear seats fold forward and up (like the Doblo) so a lot of room in the back, plus the head height is good for long things like muskets, spears and the odd didgeridoo (I jest not!).

  3. Simon - we need to try it out for size, but we are planning to sleep in the back if we can which means we can do Builth Wells - where you set up your stall indoors and sleep in a caravan or back of van beside it for two nights. Some folk of course, have caravans, or better still motor homes. This particular vehicle does come in a campervan guise too . . .

  4. Nice to see you sorted BB. Looks very nice. Once you have had air conditioning you will never be without it! Our car is now repaired, had to have a new starter motor and apparently it had the wrong battery on it, (we have a Dodge Kaliber [made by Chrysler/Daimler with a VW engine Turbo diesel 2 litre] and it needs a specialist battery as otherwise the car does not charge properly ) As we have really done nothing in that area since we have had it we assume that it must have been done by the garage we bought it off. At least we are mobile now. I would say your new van is going to be ideal for you and if you get a couple of really good thick heavy duty sleeping bags it will keep you snug. OH is looking for a small van for his fishing and for also taking rubbish to the tip and moving stuff. We will see what happens in the next few weeks. His idea is that it will keep the car tidier and respectable for when we go out and he will be able to leave his fishing equipment in it so that he has less messing about to do before he goes fishing. Yours looks very smart - I hope you enjoy it and it does everything that you want it too especially with regard to the fairs. Take care. Tricia xx

  5. We already have good 4-season sleeping bags from when we used to go camping with the kids! Neatly tucked away and just needing an airing.

Sorry you had the wrong battery in your vehicle (sounds v. posh btw), but I suppose if the garage that sold it didn't know, you wouldn't automatically think there might be a problem with it. Hope you get the little runabout van soon.

  7. Love my back up camera! You'll find you need to swipe it clean regularly, though. It gets splattered with road gunk. We bought a new car last year (a Subaru Outback) and it has so many cool things that it feels like I'm driving a space ship.

    1. Oh thanks for that tip Viola - it wouldn't have occurred to me! It will get splattered with cow gunk here as we live next door to a dairy farm! I thought it would take me a while to get used to driving it, but it's easier than I thought.

    2. We live on a gravel road (only a mile to the pavement), but pick our vehicle colors carefully. My Subaru is Gravel Road colored aka Titanium (sort of a dusty gold-ish tan - perfect).

  8. Oh a new sleeping car - how exciting. We are probably going to have to buy another car when we move (at the moment husband and I share as our son drives our Polo) and I'm now thinking a sleeping car might be more practical than a sports car. Clearly been watching too much Antiques Road Trip!

    1. I have to say, I never thought I would look longingly at a motorhome but these days several traders we know have them - they load them up for a Fair, and then sleep in them overnight. Having a built-in loo has a definite lure at our age! But we will make do with the Nissan and a torch!!

    1. A practical colour round our lanes but a bit too "road coloured" when driving at night.

  10. That looks good, like the colour and can just imagine you two sleeping in it ;)

  11. That looks a really smart vehicle BB. Just perfect with all that room inside for transporting boxes and for making up a bed if needs be!
