Young Rosie this morning, clearly thinking her breakfast was inadequate! Tam left the room for a minute, came back and Rosie was chomping on a pork pie! Swiftly removed, I might add. They are on their way here shortly, so I am having a big tidy up and vacuum. I hope to list Keith's militaria for Probate once I've mopped the kitchen floor.
Oh gosh she looks so cute chomping on that pork pie!! I bet she was a little bit peeved when the pie was removed. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe dropped it on the floor, so it got binned.
DeleteWhat a clever girl. I know someone else who loves a quarter of a small pork pie between elevenses and lunch, which today is leek and potato soup. I used three large leeks, two small brown onions, two medium unpeeled pink potatoes and three large unpeeled organic carrots for sweetness and colour and this will probably make about 6-8 portions. It takes five minutes to chop the veg, five minutes to sweat the veg and five minutes to bring to the boil after adding a litre and a half of water. Then I simmer very slowly with the lid on for about an hour, leave overnight for the flavours to develop and whizz the next day. We eat homemade lunch for soup every day when there’s an R in the month! No hardship when accompanied by good bread and cheese and fruit and no waste as all the peelings go in the kitchen waste compost bin. I squelched down to the kitchen garden this morning with compost and then had a snowdrop tour. It’s all looking beautiful but so soggy. Definitely a welly walk this afternoon. Have a lovely day with Rosie and Tam and hope Rosie saved you some pie. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteSarah, do you refrigerate the soup when you let it sit overnite? Or it sits out on the counter?
DeleteI have to say, Leek and Potato soup is one I do not make or enjoy. Just not to my palate. When I was making soup regularly, my favourite one was an American recipe with king prawns, chilli and rice and oh boy, that was amazing. A bit like a gumbo but runnier. Not sure if I still have the recipe though.
DeleteThanks to Rosie I quite fancy a pork pie now!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess, I don't enjoy them. Keith was the Pork Pie Man!
DeleteIsn't she adorable! Maybe she'll soon be eating regular foods and less hngry and fussy. Almost one now isn't she!
ReplyDeleteHer favourite food is Avocado - she abandons the spoon and has handfuls of it! Yes, 10 mths old now. Almost overnight she went from being difficult with the "boughten" pureed pouches, to being a proper gannet, especially the fruit purees.
DeleteOh, how adorable! Arriving home one day after pushing my little sister through town in her pushchair my Mum discovered her little treasure happily munching away on a whole cucumber that she must have 'acquired' on their journey. No doubt some other poor housewife was scratching her head and wondering where the cucumber that was sticking out of the top of her shopping bag had got to!
ReplyDeleteI can recall Tam grabbing a cucumber in the supermarket and taking a big bite out of it, so of course we couldn't put it back. No hardship as we always bought cucumber anyway.
DeleteSo cute. Rosie looks to be trying to eat that pork pie as fast as she possibly can.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Haha. Then she dropped it on the floor, so it got binned.
DeleteShe is a clever little monkey, isn't she? Adorable one too!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable, and she loves her "gram". (Me).
DeleteThere is nothing so pure as that love, is there. I had my grandson in the tub one day when he was little. 2 maybe. Even 3. I was using the time as he played to scrub the bathroom floor on my hands and knees. I was talking away to him. He suddenly stood up in the tub and just stared. It was the strangest look on his little face, very solemn. I stopped what I was doing and put my hands on the edge of the tub. "What are you thinking about?" and ever so gently, he leaned down and kissed my nose. It was such a sweet moment that I grabbed him in a big hug. I got soaked, but it was totally worth it.
