Well, that is sewing knocked on the head for a few days. All my own silly fault. Whilst trimming the ears of the edge off a block, a swift swipe and a lack of attention embedded the rotary cutter deep into my finger and it did not want to stop bleeding. . . 20 mins of pressure and arm in the air, and I had to call a neighbour to take me to A&E in Llandod. Not a place they can stitch as it won't hold together, so taped with tiny strips and I go back on Tuesday, I may need to choose a different victim to drive me if I'm not up to it. Meanwhile under strict instructions not to do anything - bar some one fingered typing . . . Tea is fishfingers and oven chips.
Oh dear, I hope it heals well. Thank goodness you had a helpful neighbour. I once discovered a box of rotary cutters in a stock cupboard of the Infants' School where I worked. Sliced my finger by simply touching the blade (to see if it was sharp!) and decided that they were not suitable for numptys like me let alone 4-7 year olds.
ReplyDeleteGood grief - what on earth did they have those in the school for? I shall use my scissors for trimming in future and be VERY careful cutting fabric,
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I am feeling queasy just thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteI hope it heals quickly x
I was when she eased my tissue dressing off and part of my finger came up with it!
ReplyDeleteOh no! This is my fear of rotary cutters, plus they never cut thru. I sit, feet up, w my scissors to trim blocks. I have cut fingertips at times, not w rotary cutters tho, but they were stitched and held but became very infected, so try to keep it dry and very clean or soak as needed. I hope it is not too painful.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to think my scatty brain is safer with scissors too! Throbbing more than painful - strange to feel your heartbeat at the end of your index finger!
DeleteOh no! I hope it heals quickly. Be good and obey the doctor's orders!
ReplyDeleteI will, never fear. Will settle down with a book and tv tomorrow.
DeleteOh Gees. What a terrible place to get a severe cut. Every time you bump it, it will bleed. And...you will bump it a lot, because, well..
ReplyDeletefinger. (Signed) surviver of a similar can opening injury.
I am relieved Mr Finger, that you survived, despite bashing after deep laceration.
