Is what has caused my bad shoulder. Main muscle and some underneath attached to ribs and one across to neck, all very inflamed and stiff. Too big in the boob department, too much time on the computer, looking down and not enough movement/gardening etc. I need another 3 appts. Just as well I sold the pistols of K's at the weekend. No lifting (even Rosie), no sleeping on that side and no sitting for long yof time. That flight to NZ will be a killer. . .
Just off to put a hot water bottle on it, as recommended. Anyway, I saw my dear friend N, and it felt like old times, when we just lived up the road from her. I got some bits I needed for my holiday, and lovely new shoes at a sensible price.
Back tomorrow.
But you are always so busy!
ReplyDeleteReally hope it's so much better by NZ time
Yes, but not active enough. Not enough walking which is good for freeing the shoulder up. No good being hunched over the computer either - smack wrist!
ReplyDeleteBB I left you a voicemail earlier - I was talking about my Brisk Minutes/ it’s a free NHS app called Active 10. I was always ‘ oh I’m on my feet all day and never sit down ‘ but I wasn’t ‘fit’ like I used to be. The Brisk Minutes gets one to really stride out when walking - you can do it and reduce to a slower pace then pick up again and it counts the whole day.
ReplyDeleteI push myself when I’m out with the dogs and actually got 70mins of fast walking the other day! Today was 59. It’s a good way of showing how there’s walking and there’s walking lol
If you can get to a Bravissimo if there’s one near you- they will fit a proper bra - it makes an unbelievable difference or Miss Mary of Sweden online would be good.
Thick straps and the right cup size - most of us wear the wrong.
At least it’s something you can improve rather than some awful damaged ligament or something . Onwards and upwards dearest! Love D x
Got half way through your wonderful voicemail(s) and Tam and Rosie arrived. Will look at the Active 10 app. My watch (though a cheap version of a Fitbit) actually breaks down activity pretty well, even measuring length of pace, calories burned, steps, average cadence - all sorts. I normally just check the steps though and how long I walked with raise heart rate. I have to set the activity first though.
DeleteI bought a Miss Mary of Sweden bra (nearly £50!!!) and wasn't that impressed by it. Last time I went to be measured, woman just "eyed" me, put me down a back size (to 36 - OUCH) and up two cup sizes. Yes, cup size right but back nearly stopped me breathing it was so tight. This is Wales, nothing is "near" - nearest Bravissimo shops are Cardiff, Bath and Birmingham!!! My favourite bras are by Elomi and aren't cheap either, but are better cut. Just got two M&S ones in the sale which aren't too bad. Dreading the flight as the high spot of my day is being able to rip my bra off as unlikely to see anyone after that! Will have to sneak to the loo and do this on the plane!
It's muscles which are implicated - tightened up from bad posture and not enough upper body movement this summer. Taking myself in hand now.
I do some gentle shoulder /chest opening exercises by Justin Agustin who is an IG physical trainer. I ll try to find the link, he's on you tube and his own website. All very gentle. I think it has helped over the past four months. Rosie is so smart , she'll know if you can't lift her. Sit on the sofa and pat the cushion by your side for her to join you etc.
ReplyDeleteI love "warmies" plush pillows filled w flax seed and lavender, heat in micrwave [carefuly! ].They're like the wheat seed pillows people make but less likely to mildew, or as here, wheat seed is not available to buy at a reasonable price. Nicer than a water bottle. Maybe sold in UK too?
love
lizzy
I've just looked him up and will watch one of his videos on tv later on. Meant to avoid too much lap top time . . . I have the wheat pillows to warm up.
DeleteI know that I have to get up and walk or get up and stretch every so often or my legs, hips and shoulders cause me grief. Hope everything works out and you are not in too much pain on the flight.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I am normally pretty active, but this year not as active outside due to the prolonged heatwaves.
DeleteOne tip...now you'll be starting to sit up properly....check the rear view mirror in your car...
ReplyDeleteThat is a very good tip and I am using it sat at my laptop too!
