I don't know how it happened, but we did finish our packing in the living room (we were sharing a suitcase as only away a few days.) Somehow the DVD remote had a little holiday too!!!
Our hotel room overlooked the Tivoli Gardens - NO WAY would I have gone on this ride! When we walked past earlier, they were screaming blue murder!!
Safely back home and all my holiday clothes washed (and now dry). I went to Llandod for fresh food shopping and have decided to try lots more veggie recipes to save on money. I got two books from the Library - Miguel Barclay's Meat-Free One Pound Meals, and Pinch of Nom Budget, then found The Australian Women's Weekly fast fresh Vegetarian recipe book on the charity shelves.
I bought Courgettes, Pak Choi, Lettuce,Spring Onions, a pack of Sweet Peppers, Mushrooms, plus fruit (apples, strawberries and a couple of bananas). Passata, lasagna sheets, a can of caramel (I want to try and recreate the amazing salted caramel bun I had in Copenhagen), yeast, a stir fry sauce, live yoghurt, Mango chutney, Sesame Oil (haven't had that for years), Peanuts for protein, houmous and coleslaw.
I have to clean out the deep corner cupboard in the kitchen today but in having a brief fossick yesterday, I found the spiralizer that Danny bought me years ago and I had never used so will give that a try today. Handy for prepping courgettes etc for stir fries. The cupboard and contents will be better for a good scrub down. First job after breakfast.
I had a walk up to see my horsey neighbour Chris and had horsey cuddles with Cas, lots of kisses for his soft mushroom grey nose. It was good to have a natter again. Good to be home to and to sleep in my own bed, in a room which wasn't at 24 deg (we turned it down but 20 was as low as it could go) and with winter weight feather duvets (all best quality - the final hotel had only been open a month).

Welcome home, I enjoyed your photos.
ReplyDeletePhew- that is one Hot room.
It was hot in the other hotel too. I needed it cooler . . . Glad to be home now.
DeleteLoved all the photos, had to reread about the bog people again! When my daughter and her family went for a skiing holiday in Canada they struggled sleeping in the overheated rooms. Glad you had a lovely break. The Women’s Weekly cookbooks are legendary. JennyP
ReplyDeleteThe WW cookbook is good, but some of the ingredients not readily available here. Glad you enjoyed rereading about the Bog people all over again.
DeleteEast West, home is best, but what a wonderful break and I’ve loved seeing your posts about it😀
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
That's my holiday for the year though I may try for a night away on Anglesey later in the year.
ReplyDeleteYou are straight back into business! Glad you enjoyed Copenhagen. I enjoyed it via the photographs. Rachel xx
ReplyDeleteDespite a bit of a cold. Copenhagen was somewhere I wanted to go to satisfy my archaeological curiosity, and boy did it do that! VERY expensive to stay there though and not a place I would return to.
DeleteI did enjoy your holiday photos. We have a lot of vegetarian meals here as two of us are vegetarian. They can be very tasty.
ReplyDeleteLast night's had some pork mince in, lots of veggies and very little flavour so I will have to tweak it.
DeleteI enjoyed your trip, thanks for taking us along. Gorgeous food, fascinating archeology--and not too far for you to travel.
ReplyDeleteI thought you brought home a mouse or a cockroach, hahaha, the realised it is the remote.
Welcome home.
Nice short flight - I could cope with that. Brilliant archaeology.
DeleteThat is very funny about the remote! Nice looking food too. Its funny that the AWW cookbook has ingredients not readily available there - we often struggle with UK and US cookbooks similarly I suppose.
ReplyDeletePeccorino cheese was one ingredient. Is is a soft or hard cheese? I think the USA struggle with using Syrup, as it doesn't appear in grocery stores. Can you get it in Oz/NZ?
DeleteI think it’s sheep’s milk cheese? Hard, crumbly, salty — like Parmesan, wish you could probably substitute for it
DeleteWill have to get a little nub of Parmesan for cooking.
DeleteWelcome home, there is no place better to get a good nights sleep. What a lovely trip you enjoyed, and I loved all the photos.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Well, the good night's sleep bit is on hold. The cats keep getting cold in the night (last night was COLD they told me) and I was held in a vice of two kitten-cats who clearly thought that mum made a very good - and BIG - hot water bottle!
DeleteSo pleased you enjoyed your trip and a life's ambition achieved, one place I've never been is Denmark but we gave them our Mary to be their Queen. All the AWW cook books are marvelous I bought and still have their original cookbook in 1971 when we got married it has been a lifesaver all these years I was a very novice cook back then. Peccorino cheese is a hard cheese a more aged than parmesan and used in the same way.
ReplyDeleteA tip about the doona being too hot in hotels we used to take the doona out and just use the cover and then roll the doona up like a bolster and use it behind the pillows to have a read at night then put it on the floor at sleep time. From Shirley in Perth Australia.
I have the AWW Muffins, Scones and Breads and have used that regularly for 30 years or so. Margeurite Patten taught me to cook and I still have the book here. Mind you Cornflakes Betty never made it to my table!! THanks for describing Peccorino cheese - don't have Parmesan in the fridge as I would so rarely use it.
DeleteI was thinking whilst we were chucking covers off, all we need is a sheet . . .
I’ve never paced something by mistake but someone did stick a lead brick I some luggage of mind when I was traveling back from a job in Belgium. I only found it when I got back to the factory. I wondered why it felt heavy
ReplyDeleteA lead brick is likely to be somewhat weighty!! Can't report on churches in Denmark, as only saw them across the fields - seemed to have a tall tower and they are all white.
ReplyDeleteThe remote truly is remote at this point. Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteGabby thought it was from where we were staying, but no dvd players in any of the rooms. Mine . . .
ReplyDeleteBrilliant trip, looks like you had an amazing time.
