Home from Hampshire

Morning all.  Just a quick line to let you know I am safely home again, and had a lovely few days with my dear friend T.  We laughed, we cried, we talked, we relaxed and I will soon be down with her again next month.

Here are a few photos I took of the icy start to my journey down there, from the car and the train.  I didn't take any photos of the New Forest, as intended, but next time, perhaps.

First, the frosty Towy Valley:

The tree above is a Copper Beech, and so beautiful with its filigree of frost.

Now some views of the Towy making its way to the sea, taken from the train.  Above - this one is just as we had left the station.

Llansteffan Castle.

And the Castle again, and the little seaside village of Llansteffan to the right.

Scotts Bay and beyond.

Sunrise over Rhossili Downs in the distance, taken near Burry Port.

Finally, coming home again - high tide on the Gower.

  1. Its so nice to hear you had a lovely time with your friend, we have been to Llansteffan a cuple of times but not yet up to the castle, its on the to do list :-)

  2. Absolutely spellbinding photography BB.

  3. Your frosty pictures from the train are beautiful. Jx

  4. Thanks for your comments. Quite often the Towy Valley is so beautiful from frost or clouds or mist or sun, and I don't have the camera or I'm driving, so good to capture it frosty at least. Dawn - it's not too steep a climb up to the Castle, but nice views from the top, and an interesting little castle to explore.

  5. Think I loved the Gower view the best, looks much colder in Wales than here. Glad you are back home safe.

  6. What stunning photos! I can feel the chill, just looking at them. Glad you had a good visit with your dear friend.
Thanks for commenting over at mine, have you seen that lady in Wales, who makes all her quilts with EPP?
Any geometric shape can be cut out of paper and wrapped in fabric, plus curved shapes- remember clamshell? I still have some metal templates for clamshell from the 60's! Would you believe there are still ladies on the net making that old faithful.

  7. The photos of those frosty fields are just beautiful. Glad to hear you had a good visit to your friend.

  8. Glorious pictures of the frost. We really haven't had much icy weather here yet and it is so beautiful when it comes. Glad you had a good time away :o)

  9. Thank you everyone. I have to say, I would prefer it warmer and a bit damp although I do like the look of a frosty day. We were at Malvern on Sunday, when it was a damp freezing fog and my joints began to ache after a few hours out in that.

  10. Beautiful images, even we have had frost here in Torbay. Glad to hear you had a good time with your friend.

  11. Gorgeous scenes, thank you for sharing these delightful pictures. It doesn't ever snow here in the Bay Area so it's lovely to see other's views of the frostiness of winter. My husband is out mowing the grass as we speak !~!
