Finished!
FINALLY FINISHED. Quilt for Danny, with Space Invader as requested. The spots are on the camera and not on the quilt, thankfully. I spent 11 hours on this yesterday, just doing the binding. It is far from perfect but I think he will like it.
Below is the finished hexi table runner which is hand-pieced and hand-quilted, on my lap, as an evening distraction.
Only now can I start organizing myself for Christmas, with cleaning and baking. I'll get there, but I have vowed, no more last minute sewing ever again!
Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone, and all the best for 2020.

And Merry Christmas to you, and I hope 2020 goes more the way you want it to!
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear, and the same sentiments to you too of course.
DeleteWorking with all that black must have been a labour of love and he is sure to love his custom made quilt. I have a few fat quarters and I'm toying with the idea of doing a patchwork table runner next year, so can you tell me please the size of your hexies?
ReplyDeleteAt least the black hid any little hiccups in the quilt-stitching. It would have been straightforward if I had allowed myself a little more time. The hexi's are two inch ones I think - I made them to fit some "padded" pre-cut liners which I bought at a Quilt Festival. The "padded" liners are in place of a paper former and you just sew into them and they give shape and firmness to the finished piece.
DeleteWhat lovely finishes. The quilt is wonderful and the colours in the table runner go together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thanks Jackie. I seem to have had a thing going for that colour range this year and they all came from my stash. I even stitch-ripped out a few I had sewn in already to incorporate some new fabric I got in a bundle from the car boot sale.
DeleteI have vowed the same in the past.. as a procrastinator, it's difficult to stop!
ReplyDeleteI have learned a BIG lesson from this quilt!
DeleteI'm thinking you may have a 'stiff neck' from the hand hemming--its a chore that always settles in neck and shoulders. Well done in time for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour table runner is a lovely blast of colors!
Yup - and do you know, by way of "light relief" from the stitching, I soaked and scrubbed the oven shelves and tin which saves the oven bottom. THAT was fun (not!)
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family! Wishing you all the best in 2020!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy, and the same to you too.
DeleteThe quilt is super. Merry Christmas to you and your family too and wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful 2020.
