Hmmm. Not a moment too soon, but I wonder if this will affect our move? We will have to wait and see. Not just the allowed to move bit, but the safety of moving of course, given our health issues here. Not ideal, that's for certain.
The tree finally got dressed on Friday evening.
The Lights and Larch in the hall is bringing great pleasure.
As you can see, much work has been done (lots of boxes out of sight too).
It just gets worse the news, but laying down the law has to happen. Think one of my grandchildren will be stuck in London, lots of people seemed to be catching the trains out yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you really want to move before Xmas, the upheaval would be too much, enjoy your last Xmas in the old house. And look forward to the New Year. X
It's a necessary evil, and I think reaching this decision a week ago would have been even better. People can't just go merrily Christmas shopping in huge close-together crowds and NOT spread Covid or any other bug come to that.
ReplyDeleteWe had originally hoped to move the 1st week of December, but things got held up due to delays in searches and so many many queries via the Solicitor. We have had to chase our vendor too, as she's a bit laid back about it all. So the move has been planned for mid January for quite a while now. I moved on 17th December once, and didn't want to have to leave the new house to go out and socialize.
Best of luck with all the uncertainty around the lockdown and your move.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary - we can apparently move but if Wales shuts the borders, then our buyer can't get here to move in . . .
DeleteI can't help smiling at the thought of all those (probably husbands!) who thought they had another week to buy presents!! I agree that it's the wisest move, though. Takes away the angst from those shall we/shan't we situations.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, they're in for a shock! Tam said a lot of her last-minute sales for her jewellery last year were to men . . .
DeleteSorry that you are locked down again. We will be having stricter regulations soon, but no where near the ones that you have.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of last minute shoppers, Harvey went out today to find me my Christmas gift, 4 days later it's my birthday and the 10th of January is our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Poor guy hates shopping at the best of times, so getting everything over with in one fell swoop usually works. I don't think this year he is even thinking beyond Christmas.
God bless.
We are quite happy to have groceries delivered and just go out for walks, like in the last Lockdown, and that is what we will do when we move, but at the moment we have to go through the move first - that will be scary, worried in case any of the removal lads is brewing Covid.
