Babysitting and Potter's Wheel quilt pattern

Today and tomorrow.  Shattered as it's a long drive and a long day, and Rosie very fretful (more teefs on the way) and I spent two hours trying to get her to sleep.  So an early night for me.  Manage to stop in Charlies on the way home and get more compost and bark chippings, but no strength to unload them.  Tomorrow we have a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.  Deep joy - the mountains will be fun in that.

I took lots of photos of the Primroses here but the new computer won't accept the camera cable.  You will have to make do with the walk around the lake in Llandod, which I did yesterday, before shopping.

Mollyblobs (aka Marsh Marigolds).

Oh and here's the material I got in Calico Kate's.  The green and pink is for pillowcase fronts.  Not a good representation of the green but it does go quite well.

Where I've got to on the bank.

The (Potter's Wheel) quilt pattern I can more easily do, except it will look nothing like this because there aren't going to be red bits in the middle!

Meanwhile, today Rosie has been climbing into her pram (think stroller type) and trying to do up the safety harness, and she has the right idea!  Clever clogs - and only 13 mths old!

  1. I saved that quilt pattern--along with many others--some years ago and haven't made it. It should be one that goes along quickly.
    Lovely photos of your walk.
Do you suppose Rosie is set for life as a non-sleeper? There was one of those in our family!

  2. I hope it will make up quickly. I like the smaller ones in the border - makes it a bit different.

Rosie DID finally get to sleep, for 1 3/4 hrs. She's got a cold and is teething, so not her normal self.

  3. What you call a Potter's wheel I call a Pinwheel. What I call a potter's wheel is quite different and is a variation on a drunkard's path with. a square in the centre. Also, the potter's wheel that I know looks less like a potter's wheel and more like the big round millstones of which I have a few in the garden.

    1. The PInwheel pattern I know has equal half-square triangles. This has the variation and it's called Potter's Wheel in the magazine, not by me. Hopefully I shan't muck this one up.

  4. Poor Rosie, teething is so painful for the little ones. I like the quilt pattern and enjoyed the walk around the lake. Love the sea serpent.

    God bless.

    1. She had her hand in her mouth half the day, and only slept because she had some Calpol. The sea serpent is fun isn't it?

  5. Oh poor you! Why can't Rosie go to the daycare? It's a long drive, could you stay over for the holiday week? When she is a bit older she can come stay w you.
Love the quilt pattern. Again be very mindful of lights/ darks create the pattern.
Your garden looks lovely and I d also love to see the primrose photos. Can you load the pics to a thumb drive then move them Or, when I miss a pic and am in a hurry I email pic[s] to myself, save to desktop, drag to Blogger download page/ and or to a folder on the harddrive.
The pink and green pillowcases fabric is a great find, it goes so well.

    1. Tam's child minder doesn't do holidays . . . she has children of her own you see. Because of the cats, I can't go to stay over. When she's older she can come and stay with me but she's not weaned yet. I need to get L. Whale to the vet's but won't be back in time today either. So he will go in the morning.

Don't know how I can download any of the camera photos from now on as this computer doesn't accept the cable end for some reason, so I can't even get them to an email.

I will have to be very careful how I create the pattern.

    2. Poor L Whale, hope he gets to the vet. Mo has still not had an appointment, vet tech says no visit since he is generally responding ok to meds. I'm losing confidence in this vet.

It's tough being a young mom. I went back to work after 12 weeks w my kids [and actually worked from home almost as soon as I gave birth] but I had in home help and my then husband worked only 3 or 4 days a week usually. I do n t remember when kids are weaned, I did breast feeds but introduced formula/ bottle knowing I d be working right away.

If the pink Wm Morris [ish?] fabric is on sale and affordable, you could buy enough for your quilt backing. The project would look so pretty in the guest room.

  7. so pleased you are still giving quilting a go. I'm waiting for cooler weather to finish a hand appliqued quilt that is up to the layering up stage but then I'm going to machine quilt it so I can get it finished and then make only small things. I've made enough big quilts now all the family have been gifted them and I've donated a few plus a few I've kept for myself. From Shirley in Perth, OZ

    1. Well, I've been quilting most of my adult life. Nothing very complicated and since nursing/losing Keith my brain has not been so good at concentration. After this one I will do simple ones for family.

  9. I load all the photos from my camera onto an external hard drive which then plugs into the computer, it makes life a lot easier for blogging and keeps the computer clearer for more storage of other things. Poor Rosie teething is no fun ... for anybody. :-(

    1. Now that's a great idea - saves me the hassle (after a year or more!!!) of transferring them for safe keeping. That said, mine are on Cloud (Gabby tells me, which is how she transferred them easily). Teething - not sure if it was the cold as well, perhaps giving her a bit of earache, poor little mite.

  10. That quilt pattern is lovely. I like the way the corner wheels go outside the line right to the edge. If the problem is the camera cable plug in to the computer isn't the correct style, there likely is an adapter available.

    1. I thought that was a nice idea too. Those are a tiny bit smaller than the main blocks. Will have to look for another suitable adaptor.
