R.I.P. Tricia Rennie

Trish and John, when they were here with us in September 2015.

It is with immense sadness that I am writing that my best friend of nearly 60 years, Tricia Rennie (or Tricia Hanslip as she was in our childhood), passed away today, after a long and brave battle against cancer.  Life can be so unfair.  Life will never be the same again.

My thoughts are with her family at this time.

  10. Thank you everyone. I feel a bit numb, although I had prepared myself. My sinuses are still bunged from this cold so I can't allow myself the luxury of bawling my eyes out - still, that's probably a good thing. I would give anything to ease the grief for her husband and family.

  12. Thinking of you and Trish's family. In recent weeks, that bloody disease has taken an old friend of mine, also the husbands of two more friends. All lovely, gentle, wonderful people who will be so sadly missed. Life can be very cruel, can't it?

  15. Thank you all. I think it is one of the cruellest diseases, just brutal, as a friend said. If the cancer doesn't get you first, then the treatment will.

I spoke to John today and it was, to the most part, a positive conversation and I am hoping that he will learn to cope with his grief and loss and I will certainly continue to keep in touch, visit and help where I am able.
