Taking some sea air at Aberporth

The view looking northwards up the coast from Aberporth.  Oh, and Himself's hands . . .  You may remember Aberporth from articles back in the winter, where it became famous for five minutes for launching an anti-plastic campaign.

North Wales in the distance.

Aberystwyth is there somewhere, tucked out of sight behind the headland.

What a wonderful place to live, with the beach at your feet. . .

Folk were happy on, in and by the water.

Whilst wild flowers were busy colonizing every nook and cranny.

I think this family hasn't noticed the tide, and were going to get wet feet going back!

A lovely craggy sandcastle built by a little girl (whose mum showed me a photo of her she'd taken as a sand-mermaid!)

This is what a good retirement pension brings you . . .  I always say I'm not mad on modern housing, but I could rough it here!

And this, next door, is the budget version, more suited to our pension-pot!  Note the wriggly tin roof.  Love it!

Few words again - my apologies but I have been wearing my new reading glasses all day today and my eyes are tired now.  I have added a few more paragraphs (after lots of to-ing and fro-ing from one link to another) to our Heritage Statement  which is necessary for the hoped-for relocation of the driveway.  We could pay an arm and a leg to have it done, but as I have the qualifications, I look forward to keeping all my limbs!

  1. Like the wooden house! Just a bit bigger than my shedudio. Good luck with your driveway moving.

  2. Isn't it cute? Noisy in the rain though. Let's hope the planning for the driveway goes through - but to support our application, I need to write an appropriate H. Statement. Having never seen one before, and just found vague guidelines, it is a challenge!

  3. Yep - prefer the second house too. Love the idea of lounging on a verandah like that. It reminds me of a cottage we stayed in on a family holiday about halfway up the wooded slope between Lynmouth & Lynton.

    1. Hello my dear, long time no see. It would be nice to sit on a veranda with a bit of shade on a hot day, and a glass of Pimms perhaps . . .

  4. It's all about Location Location with those properties - lovely.

I always fancied a veranda, we even had the posts and post fixings at the smallholding, so only needed a roof, but we ran out of time with illness.

    1. Isn't it just. Not so much fun come winter with a North-Westerly pounding the house though! I agree, a veranda would be nice. What a shame you never quite got there at the smallholding. I've always fancied a conservatory, but Keith hates them, for some reason . . .

  5. Yes I have always fancied living at the seaside too BB although I suspect it would all get a bit much in Summer. Perhaps it is one of those ideas better dreamt about than putting into practice.

  6. After a busy summer like this, I am sure you would soon be longing for winter and empty beaches and car parks! Best to rent for a while and find out perhaps : )
