All done and dusted!

I think I shall sleep well tonight!  Keith went off to clear some of the contents of his workshop at the car boot sale, so I got up when he did and put in another 3 hours' housework (I know how to have fun!!)  I picked a little posy from the garden and popped it into my big Scandy Torquay jug, then set to and baked a batch of Blackberry and Apple Muffins to dress the table, and offer to the Agent (who ate two and was sent home with another four to save me from temptation!)

The sun has shone all day and the Agent took all the necessary photos, and his daughter will come and measure up for the floor plan next week.  We should be up and selling on Monday.  The Agent loves our house, so I am hoping his enthusiasm will help to find a new owner.

Above and below: close ups of Vielchenblau - love the stripey petals.

I shall have to get some more compost tomorrow and some more "instant colour" in the way of plants to dot around the borders to fill the gaps where plants have bloomed and been cut back.  The Geums will flower again and the next flush of roses will soon be out, but it's a bit green out there today.  Fortunately Paul's Himalayan Musk is out right across the garden and has stolen the show.

A day of rest tomorrow I think . . .

  1. That is a lot of work prepping a house to be sold. The muffins you baked are a nice touch, and the flowers from your garden.

    1. Well, that's not counting the 3 months of hard work previous to this, when we have been painting the house inside and out, doing little jobs and trying to rehome/hide "stuff"! I always like to have a cake on the table when I am showing the house/have guests, plus nice flowers.

  2. Wow, your kitchen is beautiful, right out of the homes of 'Escape to the Country' that I've watched on you-tube. It seems like someone will fall right in love with your home.

    1. Thank you Lorraine. Everyone loves our kitchen. The estate agent fell in love with our house, so let's hope someone else does too.

  4. I shall be doing the bare minimum Sue, and hope that my elbows will forgive me and start to heel. As we have found a house we really like, let's hope there IS a quick sale!

    1. The annoying part is having to re-do jobs like window-cleaning, paintwork cleaning, yard sweeping and WEEDING! I shall be sad to leave Vielchenblau behind but will buy another one when we finally relocate.

    2. I know it would I have been rather naughty today and bought some unusual kitchen scales. Will put a post up at weekend. I would still like an Avery grocer style one for the pantry but this one will be ideal for baking. No brass on it. I have been good and got rid of a lot more stuff but it is slow going. Hope your asthma now starts to behave itself, Take care honey xx

    3. One thing in Tricia, two things OUT!!Enjoy your kitchen scales anyway. Asthma "seems" to be OK at present, but all available fingers are crossed!

  9. There's nothing like the aroma of home-baked goodies to make a viewer feel at home. We sold a big house once when a viewer had been reluctant to even have a look due to the large size. We were later told he stepped into the kitchen [a really nice one] and was captivated by the smell of venison stew in the crockpot.
Fresh flowers are a lovely touch. Someone should seriously fall for that house!

    1. Fresh flowers for a viewing (or photos) are a must, and something toothsome on the table makes it homely. Must consider a crockpot option . . .

  10. Your kitchen looks lovely. I notice most of the colour has gone from the first flush of things here too. I have filled in a few gaps.

  11. Please share the link to the estate agents with the pictures of your house when it is officially for sale. I am sure that we would all be interested to see it and to share.

  13. Thanks Lou. I have now acquired a new bit of Welsh - you are coming on a treat. I can recognize landscape features in Welsh, but that's about it!
