Not the phone call we wanted . . .

Well, sadly I am not writing "We're under offer!!!" today.  We had the estate agent phone us yesterday . . . just to give us feedback.  She had spoken to the husband of the couple who viewed and he said it was an amazing house, but not for them.  She loved it but I guess they weren't both in agreement.

Onwards and upwards.  After one good night's sleep in the past week I was still awake at gone 3 a.m. this morning and having taken a new probiotic to help my gut, found I had a really negative reaction to it and am feeling somewhat fragile today.  Middle daughter Gabby is here in half an hour or so for lunch, so that will cheer me up I'm sure.  I shall have today off and then tomorrow our son is here to help with some work we are struggling to do (up a ladder) and I will try and get the windows all cleaned again, ready for the next viewing.  Power of positive thought and all that . . .

  1. Not being square??? Ex-husband and I once did up a house that dated back to 1660 - nothing in it was square. Luckily the planners and builders agreed with us that it would be wrong to 'correct' things too much. As for people who have no idea what living in the country is about ... I could go on and on!

  2. This house wasn't built by artisans, that's for sure! It was a bit rough and ready but old houses are like that. I love the sound of your old 1660 house. There's a Tudor Merchant's House in Plymouth where the higher you get the greater the tip of the floors!!

People who don't understand old houses or living in the country are a pain in the butt . . . but I know you and I are reading from the same hymn sheet on this topic.

    1. I think they had "done good" and climbed the ladder of financial success (or struck lucky) but I can see them returning to the Smoke at some point in the future.

  5. We sometimes get townies buying property up here in the Dales but they usually sell after a couple of years when the silage trailers hold up the traffic and then the farmer spreads 'muck' on the fields.

    1. That's it Pat - no idea of what country life is about, and complain about noises and smells! I never lost my country roots, though I grew up on the edge of a big city.

    1. Let's hope so Judy. Having Gabby here today cheered me up no end, and then I had a nap so don't feel quite so exhausted now, but will have an easy time of things until off these steroids.

  7. Oh B****r!
Your house is so beautiful, it needs the right people to love it, maybe the next people - I hope so

    1. Yup - I think I said something similar Sue!! At least we are with the right agent and he LOVES our house, so that makes a big difference.

  8. How disappointing for you. Hopefully those for whom the house is waiting for aren't far away.

  10. I am so sorry to hear of your disappointment but I am sure there is someone out there who will love your beautiful house and that the house will love back.

    1. Ah well it could have been worse - they could have been disparaging and then I'd have wanted to show them the door - but I wouldn't have got my hopes up for nothing!

  11. Sorry to read this but they seem (him) to not understand the county living.
It is just like the city folks who just love the desert, big sky and all the wildlife walking by. Then don't understand the desert means, very hot summers, monsoons, cactus and dirt.
Where are the sidewalks ? no street lights ? they are back in the city where they belong.

    1. People don't do their research do they parsnip? Had to laugh at the no street lights bit! There was an Escape to the Country from years ago where some city woman (Gawd knows WHY) was on the programme but ran a mile when she realized there were no street lights in the country!!

    2. We have lights in the city part of Tucson but they are the special kind that do not light up the night. People even complain about these ? We have Kitt Peak Observatory near by and we need all the dark sky we can have.
The sprawl of Phoenix is starting to light the night and I do not like it !
