The Lady of Shalott
This is my new David Austin rose, The Lady of Shalott. A bit light on perfume but 10/10 for form and colouring. Back tomorrow with photos from a fabulous OUTING - we had a car picnic and short walk up on Hay Bluff and then on to Capel-y-Ffin. Magic.
She is very beautiful as befits one of my favourite poems.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like her Pat. A poem I love too.
DeleteFabulous rose.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I chose her.
DeleteGoing more than 5 miles is so exciting!!!!!! I've not been anywhere since last Monday's 7.5 mile trip though. Out of the habit perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI think it would have been easier to go to several places, to break up the long drive, but OH the scenery! It was worth it!
DeleteThe Lady is stunning.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she just?
DeleteSuch a beautiful rose. I'm on a mission to find a white one with a strong scent. Only scented roses from now on, they're such a disappointment otherwise! The cookies look good and golly, that spider!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo to the David Austin site - I've just looked it up and they say which roses have strong fragrances - Desdemona and Mme Alfred Carriere do, and the Old rose Madam Hardy.
DeleteBaking was good and formed part of our car picnic yesterday.
That is beautiful. I am so missing my rose garden, I might have to see if I can work out somewhere to make one here in our new place.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't have a particular spot, you could always shoehorn them in amongst the other plantings.
DeleteThat is true and might be what I end up doing :)
DeleteBeautiful rose, poem learnt at school, echoes of pre-raphaelites as well.
ReplyDeleteExactly the reasons why I chose her!
DeleteBeautiful such a stunning colour.
ReplyDeleteNow of course, I want more orangy, peachey roses!
DeleteSuch a beautiful Rose !
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am glad I chose her.
DeleteWhat a lovely colored rose! Looking forward to hearing about the car picnic, especially the food.
ReplyDeleteShe's such a lovely colour and the buds are striped with red. The food wasn't too exciting - I was awake in the night so put the bread maker on and we had fresh bread if we chose. Tam and I had grilled garlic sausage each (they are whoppers), and Keith had cheese and biscuits. I packed salad, the home made Lemon and Blueberry cake and a few of the Ginger biscuits, and we had drinks (very abstemious over those). Oh and crisps.
DeleteWonderful!
