Slowly getting oganized

My cards are all written and posted now.  I dropped them at the PO before leaving the car to be mended.  I had to walk home - it's uphill nearly all the way and didn't expect to collect it until this afternoon, but I'd only been back an hour when they phoned to say come and collect, so it was walking shoes back on and a walk in the opposite direction (just one steep hill that way).  Another chunk of money out out - it's been an expensive year for motoring this year, with all the repairs, and more due out in January as it needs two new front tyres and brake pads.  Yeesh. It goes like that sometimes though, and it is an old car.

Sleeping kittens.

Whilst the babies were Zzzzzzzzzzzzing, I managed to finish the machine stitching on the binding of the lap quilt which is going as a gift to a friend.  Then I sewed two sides on the back (slip stitching) whilst we re-watched The Witcher on Netflix, as a new 6 part series starts on Christmas Day, so it would be good to be up to date again.

A rather gloomy photo of a little bit of the Pineapple Log Cabin block surrounds on the lap quilt.  All hand-quilted, as usual.

Right, I need to make myself an edible curry sauce to go with the virtually inedible beef and tomato curry I made in the pressure cooker last night. It ended up really watery and tasteless.  These days  I have gone right off cooking evening meals.

  1. You can hardly find the sleeping babies. They're very well camouflaged. I know exactly what you mean about not cooking in the evening. I have to make sure I have a good breakfast. And a good lunch, because for some reason I have no hwyl to cook in the evening whatsoever. Glad you got your car back though.

    1. Oh I'm so glad it's not just me. If I never had to cook a meal again I would be so glad! I just run out of steam late afternoon, and it's nearly always two different meals as Keith won't what what I like.

I am very relieved to have the car back and think I will go out early to the big Garden Centre tomorrow and have a wander round the Christmas bit.

  2. That darling little black and white face at the end of your post almost takes away all thought of other comments! Vehicle fixes are indeed very pricey. We are lucky that Howard and J. can do so many things--although the last few times a vehicle has needed brake work J. has opted for a shop in town.
Organized--is that a term I should be familiar with ??!!

    1. That's a face that says, I'm STILL hungry! (She's lieing!!) They are both so adorable, even though they have wrecked my legs. When we had Ford cars, Keith did hisown maintenance. These foreign jobs need a garage - bits of them under the bonnet poked in corners they shouldn't inhabit! I was happy to pay for the repair - driving to Crickhowell and back on Saturday, I was praying I didn't hit a bump and snap that dodgy arm! I am going to Go Out tomorrow, now that I can.

Organized -yes, it's a word I used to be associated with - I'll have you know I once organized a Queen's Award to Industry event from Marquees and champagne, to loo rolls and Marigold yellow towels fit for a Princess (as it was Charles and Diana who attended it!) Having children rather murdered my organizational bent though!

    2. Of course the "O" word applies positively to most anyone but me--its is one of Gina's favorite terms!

    3. I'm sure you are organized when you are quilt-making (cats permitting!)

  3. The kittens are absolutely adorable. 😊
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
And no, it's not just you who's gone off cooking recently.
Stay safe & well, and have fun tomorrow at the Garden Centre!

  4. Hello Damselfly, they are just so cute. I'm glad it's not just me who doesn't feel like cooking.

I intend to go early to the Garden Centre - it gets very crowded this time of year. Will try for photos.

  5. You are still a better cook than me, and far more organised

    1. If I need to be, I can be organized but I am a dreadful one for "putting off till tomorrow". Very Scarlett O'Hara! I can still rustle up something pretty nice if we have guests, but everyday meals I have gorn right orf!

  6. Those babies are just so darn cute. I don't really feel like cooking in the evening, but I do. Sometimes things work out, and sometimes things are just blah.

    God bless.

    1. So cute I can forgive them anything! I am fast approaching the stage that my late ma-in-law got to - thinking about what tea will be five minutes before it's eaten!

  7. It is good to know one is not alone when it comes to producing food. We went out for lunch yesterday, I had delicious creamy korma with sweet potatoes, chick peas and spinach and would have been quite happy with cheese on toast for tea but I ended up cooking while the football was on. We had a lovely day out yesterday visiting the new exhibition in Pallant House, Chichester which was all about the Sussex landscape: chalk, wood and water. Interestingly one of the artworks was a Sussex Alphabet by Eleanor Farjeon who was a very good friend of Edward Thomas and they used to go walking together. Apparently she was completely distraught after he died and folded in on herself while she grieved. I think I still have Eleanor’s “The Book Room”, which was a favourite book when young. Some research needed there I think. Chichester was very busy yesterday but I only had time to go to the refill shop where I bought the ingredients for two Dundee cakes and I made an important purchase of a tube of SPF 50 for my face (I plumped for an Australian brand called Ultra Violette after trying almost everything in the shop) as I definitely don’t want any more skin cancers. Back to my Christmas making and local walking today. Have a good day BB. Sarah x

    1. I am fortunate that Keith follows the Rugby and not the Football. We haven't seen any of the matches. Like you, after a good lunch I can't be bothered with much for tea normally. Good on you for setting to and cooking.

Eleanor Farjeon loved ET I am sure of it. She was heartbroken, like Helen, when he was killed. That Sussex Alphabet sounds lovely. I wish I'd read The Book Room when younger, but being horse-mad stuck to pony books!

Glad you were able to get the SPF 50 - Tam is always telling me off because I don't bother with Factor anything - working on the principal the damage was done when outside all my life(and I'm not out on the hottest days now).

I did have a good day, thank you.

  8. I think a proper meal lunch time is the best but then if you cater for working people and school age, an evening meal it has to be. Kittens as gorgeous as ever.

    1. Keith's a fairly abstemious eater anyway, and has never had a big lunch (think an ounce cube of Cheddar and a toasted hot X bun). We even have our Christmas "dinner" around 4 p.m. as he won't eat it at lunchtime.
