A wailing and gnashing of teefs!

Late afternoon sunshine on my walk the other evening.

Oh this little quilt is driving me nutso.  By the time I get to start work on it, having done all the chores (which take hours), I am already tired and I am on the last row, which seems to have all the duff blocks in it, meaning I have to take the stitch ripper to all of them. I just want it finished!

Yesterday's sunrise was actually a lot more colourful but the only rosy one I took was through a filthy window.  (Result of having roof scraped).

Looks a bit more like with a different setting (the artists' palette one on my camera).

A busy day today - Emma, little "I" and I are going to a Mosaic making class at Wyeside Arts Centre in town this morning, then off to Brecon for a change to do the Food Shopping this afternoon.  Danny will be here for Keith of course.  They won't have to cook tonight as I made a big Spicy Lentil and Vegetable stew which has a cheese scone cobbler topping.  Enough for two meals for them all, and the stew made enough for another which I have frozen.

  1. It's always the last row...just when you think you're nearly done!
Batch cooking is the way to go...and remembering to label what gets frozen!!

  2. As a retired quilter, I should have all the time in the world to make blocks and quilts. I've found if I sew or cut right after breakfast, I can accomplish it, then do my tasks. It's worth a try!

    Hugs!

    2. I can't focus on or enjoy my sewing if I know there are chores and errands to be done, too distracting. Sewing hour is late afternoon or at night if not too tired.

  3. I've had some quilt struggles too this week---when one is tired, mistakes happen. I know your quilt will be beautiful and very loved tho.

Mosaic class sounds so fun! Tho I always sliced my fingers on the pieces' edges. (my ex husband hated the mosaics and sneakily threw them away. End of hobby.) Dinner sounds delish and I m so glad you have help w the grocery shopping. Emma truly seems a blessing, your son too.

    1. I am now reduced to stitch-ripping and re-sewing, measuring every strip and marking where I must sew so as to be totally accurate.

It is a huge help having Danny & co here. We are now familiar with childrens' tv in the mornings too :)

Missed out on the mistakes as I had a dental appt. but it was extremely basic so I didn't miss much.

  4. Almost done, and you will love it once finished. My wonky blocks seem to pop up all over any quilt I make.

    God bless.

    1. Yes, that's a positive Jackie, almost done! Ah well, at least I don't have to do the deliberate mistake so as not to be an offence (as perfection) in the eyes of God, which is what I believe the excellent American quilters did many years ago.

  5. Labels are important! (Ask me how I know). I am so curious about Little I's name. What is its origin?

    1. I didn't realize I'd put her name. It's Romanian and means "Winter" as she was a winter baby.

    2. You can delete my comment and edit your post. It's a lovely name though, and she is a beautiful child.

  6. Hope you didn’t need the dentist because of the gnashing of teefs! You do make me smile BB, and the quilt will come together and look beautiful. Who wants perfection anyway. How is K doing with all the changes I wonder. I think my S is still in recovery from the nasty cold or probably Covid that we both had and my taste buds are still not working properly! Lovely photos from the baby shower. Gabby looks very glamorous and I’ve always liked Tam’s smile. You looked lovely too in your pretty green top. I’m having a taster session in bell ringing tonight, it’s something I’ve long wanted to try. We have two medieval bells in our church so it will be special whatever happens. I’ve had a very busy week and it is continuing that way tomorrow and Saturday so I’m going to relax now with my stitching and the radio. Good luck with the quilt, and don’t panic! Sarah x
