The quickest post ever - and some more positivity

Danny, Emma and little I (and their cat Shadow), now  safely here.  Shadow under bed (who can blame him?)

Summer, Powis castle

There was a minor miracle today - Keith was saying yesterday he needed to walk more (but his balance is so bad he has lost confidence, knowing we can't get him up again if he falls).  Anyway, knowing Danny would be here later, he walked from the kitchen to the living room, then back again later AND then up the stairs.  This is amazing - I know it is temporary, but I honestly thought he couldn't walk at all any more - just stagger a few steps, holding onto the furniture.  If he can be more mobile for a few months even, then he can enjoy some Fairs this summer, and visit some of the stately homes on his bucket list.

  1. What a miracle, a blessing. And lovely to have your family to help. Will they go out to work, work from home? I think you said I enrolled in school, so this is more than a visit.

I have not been able to walk around big fairs since Covid times, I know what a joy that would be for both you and Keith, even if he needs his mobility scooter at times.

    1. Danny works from home, and Emma plans to transfer her Holistic healing business here. School have now said "I" has to wait until September to enroll , so they will be home-teaching her basics.

I wear a mask when I am anywhere busy (even small shops). Taking no chances now, as we were both so ill with Covid.

    2. Yes! Masking is smart, but here no one does it. Even in the unventilated IV clinic last week no one was masked. Restaurants are packed elbow to elbow. I get very uncomfortable, but if I wear mask everyone is horrified, as if I am the sick person. Good luck!

    1. I included this Lizzy, as others may want to see what's on offer. I went to the Furniture section and one dealer has obviously filled a container, shopping in England. Some of the things I know would have come very cheaply . . . Others more desirable. Thank you so much for the link.

  3. Keeping my fingers crossed that Keith stays mobile for a bit longer so he can have a great summer doing the things he loves.

    God bless.

    1. Me too - it has made such a difference, just in one day and of course the more mobile he is, the better the medication works too. Looking forward to the Fair we used to do at the Botanic Gardens, which is in a month's time.

    1. Long may it last. I knew Keith was mortified having to be helped to bed by our neighbour when he lost his balance that time. The house is certainly a lot livelier now!

  5. I’ve a hunch that he is feeling more confident knowing D is there now and if he does have a fall it’s not you on your own having to deal with it. A boost in confidence is a powerful thing and if feeling less worried he will be able to concentrate on feeling more hopeful and the knock on effects that a boosted confidence bring. Let’s hope it’s a slightly easier time ahead for you all x Danette

    1. Thanks Danette. I think it will make a big difference. Now to try and tweak his meds so that he doesn't have such trouble speaking, because of excess saliva.

  6. The news about Keith brought tears to my eyes. Long may it last! I'm glad your family is here. The extra hands will make life much easier for you both. And little I! I bet that little girl will bring many smiles to your home.

    1. How wonderful it is to have friends who care. I feel very relieved to no longer having to try and cope on my own. It has been so difficult at times.

Spent yesterday helping "I" set up her farmyard, and she was playing happily until bedtime.

  7. Two lots of wonderful news - we've had 100% Grandparenting duties ALL week, and now overnight Saturday too, so no time to snatch reading a blog. I'm relieved Keith is improved, that must lift all your spirits, and impending Grandparenthood is wonderful news! It's such fun. Must go - the children are about to arrive ... again!

    1. Haha - I bet you are shattered now after being fulltime grandparents for a week. I am looking forward to going out for good walks again (never so much fun on your own) and being able to garden, whilst Danny will be in the house all the time.

  8. We called our exercise group 'Keep Moving' and that really is a key so I hope Keith can keep moving as much as possible so that you can get to the fairs.
You will have fun with little I in the house and home schooling is great fun too - as long as it's only for a few months - then it gets complicated!

  9. Good news on both points. And you sound so much more upbeat as does Keith. Having the family there will be good in so many ways and lifting the spirits might even be the most important way. So many things to look forward to now and when times are harder you will not be coping on your own. Onwards and upwards as they say.
