As you can see, the "free range" quilting was starting to go much better - I had the flow of moving the material beneath the needle and was becoming a lot more accurate. Sadly, it didn't transfer to the big quilt, which is very heavy and cumbersome (I ended up swathed in it like having an Anaconda round my neck!) After two tries of the above, I said, this isn't for me, it really ISN'T working and now I am just doing stitch in the ditch. I know when I'm beat, but I would like to get to grips with it on a smaller item. It was lovely to see my quilting friends though and the hair was much admired.
This is my birthday present from Keith. Nope, it's not my birthday for months yet, but full of enthusiasm after watching the Victorian Arts & Crafts House, I wanted to learn more. Many of the illustrations for the Pre-Raphaelite part I already have in my Pre-Raphaelite Art book, but the whole thing is so interesting. I just need a few more free hours to sit down and read it properly. I have asked the kids to buy Arts & Crafts books for me for my birthday too.
This is some beautiful velour fabric I got a remnant of at Malvern on Sunday, and it was just £2. There's enough there for several cushions - even more if I put different backs on and just use this for the front in which case I could make 4 easily, for the sofa, to replace the disparate group of cushions we have on there right now.
