A wet day - Let's go to Glastonbury instead

It's pouring with rain here this morning (what's new?) and pretty miserable. I have done the Great Shoe Hunt and still drawn a blank. (Edited version: went through my middle daughter's shoes with her when she was on the phone and still at Uni, chucked some, stored the others, but cannot for the life of me FIND THEM NOW!) She's now landed a job in Cardiff, and will be relocating so I have to find them for her.

Anyway, let us hark back to one of those lovely hot sunny days of summer when we were house-hunting in the Glastonbury area. How long ago that now seems. Here are photos taken at Glastonbury Abbey: the wonderful Medieval Kitchen . . .

  1. Glastonbury was one of my favorite places we visited on our first trip to England...I should post some of the photos I took sometime...

  2. What a treasure house of old kitchen equipment.I love the soft colours that the natural wool dyes make.

  3. That fish pottage doesn't sound too bad, as long as it isn't salted or smoked fish. And broad beans! I haven't had any of those in years. I never even see them in the stores here. I like them mote than the white colored potato-ey flat beans. The kitchen definitely looks medieval.

  4. Did you watch a demonstration from the "cook"? I think she holds it several times a day in the Abbotts kitchen, it was really interesting. I love all the old equipment, particularly the wool carders made of teasles.

  5. I like looking at a "heritage" kitchen. Would I like to prepare all our meals in one---that would take some adjusting.
I mustn't assume the "I told you so" role--but the process of preparing for a move and finally doing it is one long theme of "Where did I put ----?
