I am here, honest, but in finding some new brain games to keep the old grey cells active, I did a colour and vision test, out of interest. Gosh I thought, this is going on and on and then realized there were a 100 pictures to work through!!! Anyway, I persevered as I wanted to know the answer, and got 86%, which makes me one of only 5.4% of the participants to do this well. Not bad at my age, but when I had my eyes "deep tested" last year, she did say my eyes were in good condition and I had no macular degenation. I still needed stronger reading glasses though. It's not that long ago (5 years at most) when I could read the tiniest printing on food labels. Not any more!
Guess where I was last week then . . .Anyway, it got me away from playing Car Escape for a bit, as that is really addictive - I guess it rewards your dopamine levels. Hence me wanting to get away from that and into brain training - short term memory especially.
Back tomorrow, when hopefully my lower back will have forgiven today's hard work in the garden!
Oh, good start to the day as I sold an old but good sack truck I no longer needed. A pleased seller AND a pleased customer.
And how big is your fabric stash???!!
ReplyDeleteI know...I succumbed while I was in NZ 😄
I was SO GOOD and bought nothing, no book(s) and no fabric.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did you resist those lovely fabrics? Hope your back feels better tomorrow (or today with the time changes across the pond).
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The little trays of fabric at the front were all Liberty fabric - tiny bits and doubtless expensive. I could resist. However, I plan to go to the Welsh Quilt Exhibition (As Time Goes By) at Jen Jones' Welsh Quilt Centre, when I have a functioning car again, and that is right next door to Calico Kate's. I won't stand a chance there . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure trove of a shop for any fabric fan!
ReplyDeleteThe colour/vision test sounds fun - where did you find it?
I'll try and find it - Messenger has mucked up my recent chats and says I need to enter a pin . . . Of course, I gave the link to Gabby and can't find it now. I've asked her to pass the link back to me.
DeleteYou were very good to resist, I have no will power where books are concerned. I do have the beginnings of Macular Degeneration, but am trying to remember to wear my sunglasses when I'm out and about and even when I'm gardening. Spent a small fortune at the garden centre but do get a member's discount. Xx
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever wear sunglasses, but Gabby gave me a pair of good sunglasses to use on holiday. Ah, a small fortune being spent at the garden centre is sometimes necessary . . . don't feel guilty :)
DeleteWhat a delightful shop! I love the trays pf fabrics, I would want them all. I see above they are Liberty--swoon!
ReplyDeleteI usually just play card games, I hope they are brain boosters. Post-covid I could use that.
Had to look up sack truck, I had no idea what that is.
love

It's one of the bookshops in Hay - Boothes - and they have a good craft corner which seems to be expanding too.
DeleteCard games are good - I play Solitaire, and I do a Wordle type word game daily, plus some other games.
Mine was a more heavy duty one which could be used upright or in a prone position, depending on what you were transporting.
I did the colour test after you said the link and I managed to get 92% which is pretty good, but I guess proof reading for the last couple of years has helped my eyes a little bit.
ReplyDeleteOh well done. Someone I know has diabetes and is starting to go blind. That would terrify me.
