Binoculars by the sink . . .

I picked some flowers from the garden yesterday - their perfume in the hall is wonderful.

I have been birdwatching today - newly-fledged Swallows have been swooping up and round the yard, and the tiniest of just-fledged ball-of-fluff Blue Tits has been in the Damson tree.  Then I spotted a Flycatcher at the bottom of the yard - they are with us every summer but I hadn't seen one until today.  I was stood by the sink with my trusty binoculars, checking him as he (or she) returned to the same branch above the Elder tree.

I needed the distraction of birdwatching, as I have a very poorly husband, suffering from headaches and eye pressure/watery eyes and a slight temperature.  Could be a sinus infection, or in the worst case, Meningitis.  He saw the GP yesterday - a lengthy appointment - and was told to go to A&E if he developed a very stiff neck and or/aversion to bright lights.  However, there is still a lot of pressure behind his eyes and he has a bad headache. Obviously as we are shielding we wouldn't go to A&E lightly, but if he is worse tomorrow, we may have to go anyway.  Worrying times - I am sure that ordinarily he would have been sent there from the Dr's surgery yesterday . . .

  2. We will phone in the morning. Our son has just phoned to say that K's astigmatism may be partly to blame if he has been using technology a lot - and since racing came back, he has been using his tablet a lot more. We are hoping that is at the root of the problem but will speak to A&E in the morning.

    1. NOT a good night's sleep, as you rightly surmised! At 5 a.m. (when I got up) he was awake and said he felt a bit better. Finger's x'd this continues.

  4. I do hope your husband feels better very soon. It really is worrying at this time to have to go to an emergency room.

    Your bouquet is beautiful.

    God bless.

    1. I have Philadelphus in the vase too and the perfume is so strong indoors.

Hoping he is on the mend now.

  5. Beautiful summer flowers! What a worry for you and your husband. I hope he is okay. So ..not a sinus infection? I get similar symptoms w a migraine but I suppose he'd know if he has migraine previously or not.

Sending caring thoughts across to you.

    1. Our son said it could be eye strain from using the tablet (they both have astigmatisms) and my husband has been using his tablet a lot more in the last 10 days . . . Could be a combination of things, but he definitely had a bit of a temperature so sinus infection most likely.

    1. The infection is coming under control now, and he has been resting his eyes today (he slept all morning). Now I am the one feeling a bit groggy.

  8. Oh I missed this, I hope he is feeling much better today. How worrying for you.

I always keep my binoculars handy so I can watch the birds (or now ships as well!) I don't seem to have as much bird life here as I did in Hertfordshire, and I do miss waking up to the sound of them singing in the early morning... but I don't miss the roar of the M25 that came with it!
