Fed up with this

Hay Bluff in the mist.

Still here, and very glad that I didn't do the Fair as I was sofa bound all day.  Despite drinking and drinking, nothing really happened until I went to bed, and then I was up 6 times in the night!  Tam ordered me some D-Mannose (thanks to gz for the heads up on that), and I've taken two lots so far.  Both the girls say I'm not too bad, but my brain is doing a Dr Google over all the symptoms and x = x4squared!  Watched some enjoyable tv (despite Tony Robinson being involved) - Time Crashers, made in 2015, which I have never heard of before.  Celebrities taken back in time for 24 hours (I think the Iron Age ones would have starved in pretty short order if they'd been there a week!)  On Youtube anyway.

I couldn't eat much of the lovely meal the kids made, but managed a few mouthfuls of venison and shared the rest out between my offspring.  I am losing a pound a day weightwise, and my BP this morning was 114/77.  Surviving on water, dry bread and apples.

I get the results of my urine test tomorrow, but since it was taken AFTER I'd been on antibiotics, it will probably be negative.  Results for Kidney performance I won't get until Tuesday.

Right, back to resting up.

Update: If you have ever tried to chose a replacement printer when your brain isn't really with it, you will extend your sympathies.  Printer finally ordered and as I was looking for a cheap one, it is probably no better or worse than any of the others whatever the reviews tell you.

Car unloaded (thanks Gabby).

The girls will be off soon and I will probably snooze on the sofa.  Youtube certainly has my algorithm and I have dozens of good programmes to watch.  Plus a big pile of unread books.

    1. Yup, not very pleasant but at least I am being good and resting (not much option to do otherwise tbh!) Hoping I will soon be my old self.

  2. If you've struggled with UTIs before, and been treated with antibiotics, there is always the possibility that you've become immune to a family of them. It happened to me. I'd take my antibiotics, but feel only slightly better, only to have the thing flare up again once the cycle of antibiotics was complete. I'm sorry you're still not feeling well, and I imagine that having just dealt with your husband's chronic illness, this is dredging up a lot of fears for you. Fingers crossed that this is something they get a handle on soon.

    1. I used to get cystitis years ago but the antibiotics I've had for this aren't anything I've had before. Tam had the same as you for years and had to go privately to get effective treatment, as the Specialist said that the infection hides behind a film in the bladder and normal anti-biotics can't reach it. The bi1g connection with Keith's illness which sprang to mind was not drinking enough water. I used to tell him off for that, but I'm just as bad! I think caring for him has dragged me down.

    2. I think it will take your spirit awhile to recover from the trauma of these months, that's for sure.

    1. My family are brilliant. Tam dropped everything and came straight away. Gabby was here the weekend. Danny up on Saturday, and G & D phoned straight away when they heard I was bad. So proud of them.

  4. Sorry to hear you can't shake off this infection.
Hope there is something available to help very soon

    1. It's taking its time to go. Hopefully the urine test will point to something that needs a different antibiotic - but since they don't take one until you've BEEN on antibiotics, somehow I doubt it. Tam says this flawed system has been in place since the 1950s . . . Needs a big update.

  5. gosh, you do sound in a bad way. can't help wondering if recent long term stress isn't playing catch up with you. time to slow right down and take time to heal properly before you crash and burn.
My current binge watch on iPlayer is Staged starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Only three series with six rather short episodes but every one a gem.
    Feel better soon, please.

    1. I think it probably is, as I've been caring for Keith for 3 years and then intensely for 10 mths before he died.

I will have to look out for Staged. Thanks for the tip.

Feel very slightly improved this afternoon and managed to cook a non-challenging meal - chicken risotto - non-challenging in the making and keeping down!

  6. Not the update I was hoping to read, but at least there hasn't been a worsening trend. Some of the dreadful UTI's that I had in the past seemed to have no direct cause--and recovery was painfully slow. One subsists on tea and toast for the duration of the heavy duty meds.
I'm thinking of you there--laid out on the sofa, no doubt with hovering felines in attendance. Praying that you've reached a turning point and recovery will be accelerated.

    1. I think it's going the right way but not convinced that it's the antibiotics doing it, more likely the D-Mannose. Ah you had exactly the right picture of me laid out on the sofa - earlier when I sat all four were on there with me. Then I lay down and woke up to find Pippi furthest away (having run out of room), Alfie on my feet and Lulu in the back of my knees. I like to think they want to help you feel better, but it's probably just you're a nice warm place (unmoving!) for a while :)

  7. You might want to get rid of the Berber door, Morocco is a hotbed of black magic and witch craft. Everyone in the middle east is familiar with the black arts common in Morocco and North Africa. It could be cursed with magic or evil eye, which might be causing an uptick in your health issues.

    1. I think my ill health is more down to not drinking enough water, and having nursed my husband through his final illness which was very distressing and stressful.

  8. My daughter is a firm believer in D-Mannose after taking it for a UTI which refused to go. Tests showed she was clear of infection after a couple of courses of antibiotics, but her body disagreed. The D-Mannose seemed to do the trick. She recommended that I keep some in my first aid box after I had a kidney infection. 'Touch wood' I have so far have not had to take any. I hope they do the trick for you as UTI's are really horrible. I try to keep them at bay by having a glass of cranberry juice with breakfast every morning.

    1. I still take one dose a day of DMannose which you can do just in case..
I had a row of UTIs after Pirate died...the 7 day AB which was for an upper chest infection as well as a UTI did the job..the three day one didn't.
I'm surprised that the urine test wasn't done before ABs...that is what happens here

  9. Oh dear, I was hoping to read that you were feeling better. I hope the D-Mannose works.

    God bless.

  10. I've eaten raw chopped garlic to successfully treat UTI, as an addition to the standard antibiotic. I take three chopped cloves (let then sit for ten minutes to release the allicin) then drink fast wit cup of water of juice, two or three times a day. Raw garlic is a strong natural antibiotic and antiviral. Bacteria also cannot develop resistance to garlic.
