Tam and Rosie have gone home and arrived safely, so I have spent a pleasant hour doing some more research on our home here, it turns out from a horsey point of view, as our stables were used for housing some of a previous owner's well bred show ponies, prototypes of the Section C Welsh Cob today. He also bred prize winning cart horses (they lived in what became Keith's workshop, judging by the height of the hayracks in there) and heavy ponies for mine work.) When he was in the new house he was Sheriff of Brecknock as well as being Chair of the localish Primrose League (well, Llanidloes anyway), and on all sorts of prestigious local societies.
My present from me, to me arrived today, and has some lovely projects in it. Of course, I want to make them ALL, yesterday, but have quilt projects to finish first.
I finally decanted my Apple Mincemeat from the mixing bowl in the fridge and it made two good sized jars. Quite wasted on my family, none of whom will eat mixed fruit, for some strange reason!
Here is the gorgeous Rosie showing her standing skills and having a great time with me, as I count 1, 2 and 3 for the coasters she has been throwing off the coffee table. The quilts are doing duty as crawler quilts!
There are still no results back at the surgery to say what specific antibiotic I should be on. Current ones work a little but when they wear off the kidney discomfort returns. I have my Covid booster tomorrow an then have to scoot along pronto as 7 minutes after that appt, I have to see the practice nurse at the surgery . . . (I'm in a different building for the jab).
I'd like to scoot up to the Records Office in Llandod tomorrow to do some research on the Estate our house was part of. Watch this space.
Rosie has grown so much! She'll be off and running soon. I don't think I've had mixed fruit like your apple mincemeat. I think I'd like it though! I hope you get some answers on which antibiotic you really need. That seems to be taking ages.
ReplyDeleteShe has indeed. Walking sooner, but speaking later. Tam said mummummumm at around 6 mths but at 7 months said "Pretty" when my friend Mary was describing an antique dish and saying it was so pretty!
DeleteYes, it's 2 1/2 weeks since I began with the infection and because the Dr said they didn't need to culture test a urine sample before antibiotics, I am still here waiting for the proper medication which will target the infection.
Charming little Rosie! I predict she will walk earlier than most--I think girl babies are often ahead of the boys in that respect. So good to have a few quilts that can go down on the floor or where ever a soft landing is needed, and be thrown in the wash without concern of fragility.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of Tam driving over the mountain on roads affected by snow. The first and last snowfalls of the seasons always seem to be slushy and slippery.
I'm hoping that side-effects of the vaccination won't add to your miseries. I've been told it can make one feel poorly for 24 hours or more. Surely by now the lab results should be back and a more specific antibiotic taking effect.
Yes, she wants to get going and is SO worried about missing out on something! She can look soundly asleep in Tam's arms, and I go in and quietly say something and that's it - she wakes up and looks at me in case I am armed with cucumber!! Her favourite thing to eat in the world.
DeleteThere's not been much snow here, but it drifts up in the mountains and the last few miles of the road down into Aberystwyth is zig-zags and needs concentration ordinarily let alone in bad weather.
I am hoping the jab won't knock me sideways too. I agree with you that they tested too late and have just bunged me on what "should" work rather than finding out what DOES.
What an interesting home you have. You are really learning a great deal about it. Rosie is such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I love the history of places - whilst this isn't a patch on our old home, which had a written history (fragmented) back to 1486, this is interesting too. It was part of a much larger estate at one time. I would like to go and research it at Llandod records office - had thought of doing that this morning in fact. Watch this space.
Deletethey might not allow you your Covid booster under the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteI have decided not to buy any more books, I have enough to last about another 50 years!
We will see, but I don't want to miss the chance as I need to be covered before I do the next Fair. Oh, I have enough to last another 50 years too but I don't let that stop me!
DeleteThat's a lot of scooting for one day! I love Rosie's sturdy little legs. My youngest granddaughter is two. She was at a store with her mother and noticed a white haired man with a beard. She got very excited pointing and pulling at her mother, exclaiming 'Ho Ho! Ho Ho!'
ReplyDeleteResearch keeps my brain ticking over and I do enjoy it. I just love to learn.
DeleteOh bless your youngest granddaughter thinking she had seen Santa!
What a gorgeous granddaughter you have, she'll be off and into everything very soon!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your research.
Not much to find out about a 1983 bungalow!
I am so happy she has arrived and she is such a sweetie and loves her "gram". Tam now slightly horrified at Rosie speeding things up!
DeleteYou could research the area the bungalows were built on, whether it was church land in the past, what was farmed on it. An 1841 Tithe Map would be interesting to look at. You should be able to access that on line too as I did for the one for our area and house.
That little Rosie seems quite pleased to be ‘up on her Daisy stumps’; how adorable she is!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Mundi, yes she is absolutely adorable and so pleased to be able to Get Going Properly! Even from a tiny baby she did not want to see the world from a prone position!
DeleteAww she looks so lovely, and very grown up now that she's standing. You're doing a lot of 'scooting', try and do it safely if you still have ice.
ReplyDeleteIt will be walking before talking for her. Tam was the other way round, talking at 7 mths (and saying mummm before that) and not walking till 13 mths. Only scooted as far as town and back today for Covid jab and antibiotics. Roads are clear but just as well Tam went home yesterday as the A44 thourgh the mountains was very dodgy/shut this morning.
DeleteLove those xstitch patterns I can't stitch any more but still look at patterns! Hope your Drs are better than ours I was in A&E last Wednesday 4:30 am Not a good time I now have a catheter!
ReplyDeleteThese are more embroidery, and as I said, my fingers are itching to get started on one. Quilts need finishing first though. So sorry to hear you had to be in A&E in the middle of the night AND came home with An Adornment! I just hope that is a very temporary measure. I have specific targeted antibiotics now and had today's with no obvious nasty reaction, thank heavens.
DeleteRosie is a real cutie but it seems like no time at all since she was born - where does the time go?
