a. Remembered to take medication at appropriate times.
b. Signed new Passport which arrived today.
c. Managed to get to Llandod and do shopping.
d. Spent some of my cash on the latest issue of Who Do You Think You Are as it had an item about researching Police (want to research my great uncle who was a Railway Policeman in London, and a BIG article about Northamptonshire research, where mum's Battams came from.
e. Decided as still knocked sideways by antiobiotics to invest in a Tesco offer of ready-meals (curries and a Chinese meal) to freeze/eat this week to save me having to cook when I feel whacked.
f. Have been watching The Burning Girls on daytime tv - Netflix (can probably manage another episode, even though it's dark now, but if the psycho who killed her husband, complete maniac by the looks of him, turns up - having just got early release from jail - WHY - should have been in Broadmoor for life) I shall wait until tomorrow!
g. Rescued a Field Mouse which the girls had been on stake out for overnight and into the afternoon and brought down to the kitchen. I hope it survives but at least it has its chance out in the paddock now. (It came from the airing cupboard . . .)
So, not a lot happening, but had a delightful chat with Danette on the phone. SO good to speak to you my dear. Oh, and I found another small Christmas present for family. Need to find some things for Rosie yet.
That’s a lot of ticks so rest up now. Lovely to chat earlier, I got all my
ReplyDeletecookery books rearranged hurrah! On mice…. I went to get some bubble wrap from a wicker hamper where I keep bits for packing-‘in the bootroom -
Opened it and immediately slammed it shut!! Looks like some little creatures have decided it is a nice place to make a nest arggg! I shall leave it for Nick to sort out! I also got a box of books packed up to be collected from some book buying app/ it was rather fun scanning - Ottolengi scored highly- I found him waaaaay too complicated so someone else is welcome to him! It’s a signed copy too. Am currently waiting for M in the shop car park, it’s cold!! Xx Danette
Ah yes, the joys of bubble wrap meece nests! They know how to get a good night's kip :) Glad you got your cookery books sorted out. Need to go through my "overflow" row in the Library.
DeleteKeep taking the tablets! and getting better
ReplyDeleteDefinitely better today and no longer feeling sick as long as I can eat.
DeleteSeems to me you did a lot for a sick lady who should be lolling on the couch all day. Hope the new antibiotics have you all fixed up soon.
ReplyDeletePoor mouse, maybe he wanted to winter over in your pantry?
love
lizzy gone to the beach...
Not really. I did plenty of lolling on the couch too. New a/b's seem to be working, thank heavens.
DeleteWe have two places that outside mice turn up - judging by the stake outs the girls do anyway. One is beside the fridge-freezer. Pippi sits patiently there most days. Then upstairs (they must go up through the walls) we have outside harvest mice which like it in the airing cupboard. It's not heated, just a storage area, but where the bedding lives on shelves. Back at Ynyswen, things actually climbed up into the bottom sheets and those had to be chucked! Due to holes put in for pipes to feed through - big enough holes for meeces too.
Counting the positives each day..even on "bad" days...can surprise...well done x
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have some positives. I like having things to look forward to as well. There's a history club talk on Friday (WW1) and then we have our post-Christmas dinner in January. (Pub just down the road).
DeleteWell done. I think I need to check and see if we have that series on Netflix here in Canada.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It was very good and not TOO scarey.
DeleteIt sounds as if you got more done today than I did!!!!
ReplyDeleteThere's still a lot I don't fancy doing yet, but slowly getting better now.
Deleteyou are knocked sideways with a UTI and antibiotic side effects, yet you put the nation to shame with everything you still manage to do. Superwoman?
ReplyDeleteoh I do hope little mousie survives!
I don't watch anything scary or paranormal on television these days.
Well, I have rested lots, and it's just little bits I'm doing. Not full on anything. No dead body out where I released it in the paddock, so fingers crossed it got away.
DeleteA good night’s sleep is the answer to most things. Last night we were both up to our respective baths and showers and beds by 9pm and lights out for me by 10pm. (I have to help S nowadays and I cannot do it when I’m tired so early to bed it is.) But at 12.30 I was jolted wide awake by a crash. I stayed in bed wondering what on Earth it could be before deciding I should check that S hadn’t fallen out of bed. He was fast asleep with the the radio on so I scuttled back to my warm bed and slept soundly until 7.30. Have checked the house inside and out and have no idea where the crash came from - must have been a dream. My right lower arm feels stiff from the leaf blowing on Monday so I don’t think I’ll be doing that again. Raking is much more relaxing and mindful. But it’s strange having a painful arm considering all the swimming and planks in yoga and carrying home of all our shopping I do. Must be old age creeping up again. Anyway yesterday we went cycling and I pottered in the garden in the sunshine until lunchtime and straight after lunch (no time for S to sit down and start feeling sick!) we walked down the hill and up into the woods to visit the arboretum planted since the 1980s by a local philanthropic gentleman. Every tree has a QR code so you can find out all about it and they are mostly rare trees. It was wonderful crunching through the leaves and we were completely alone save for birdsong. Along the footpath through the sweet chestnut woods and back into the village and shop where we bought garlic marinated chicken breasts (prepared by the local butcher and very delicious and tender) for supper and a homemade (by local cake maker Kate) chocolate brownie for tea. The shop was buzzing as usual. Supper was very easy. I roasted the chicken with potatoes and parsnips drizzled with olive oil, tucked in lemon wedges and salt and pepper in a porcelain dish and we had peas from the freezer for colour. We shared one chicken breast so there is one in the fridge for chicken mayo sandwiches for lunch today and tomorrow. Dishwasher on and we settled down to watch an episode of Wolf Hall before bed. Today is swimming day and this afternoon at 2.30 I have a Carer’s Coaching Workshop delivered via Zoom. No idea what it will be like but if it helps only a little it will be worth it. I am not a natural carer and I’m finding adapting to the caring role hard. The best thing about yesterday is that we were sitting in the sunshine looking over the millpond and T FaceTimed from Vietnam - so good to see my boy looking so well and happy and having the time of his life. Let’s keep counting the positives! Lots of love to you BB. You’ve been there and some. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteI get a good night's sleep now and again, but could do without Alfie requesting to go out around 3 a.m. By the time I've come downstairs, I am fully awake of course.
DeleteI suppose I am a natural carer (looked after my mum too), but Keith was a recalcitrant patient and really tested my patience. I did my best but still felt a failure if I got the least bit cross through being pushed to the limit.
The visit to the arboretum must have been very therapeutic - trees are so restful and it's good that S was able to be out and about with you (and not feeling sick). I am looking forward to being able to get back to walking again.
Your meals always sound so lovely. You are a creative cook. Hah - mine this week are courtesy of Tescopolis but I don't care - all the rest of the time I mostly cook from scratch and don't ever use boughten sauces.
Glad that T is enjoying Vietnam. Danny loved it when he was in Thailand - SO different.
You're doing well, so many steps forward, try not to overdo it though. I was tempted to watch The Burning Girls too last night but instead I got stuck into 'Until I Kill You' which I had recorded all the episodes of. It was really good, I watched all four episodes back to back.
ReplyDeleteI think lots of ready meals while they are offer and you are not 100% is a brilliant idea. Alan is having a similar week with lots of easy meals as we had to empty Mum's freezer at the weekend and there were lots of little ready meals stacked up in there. I got lots of packs of vegetables, some fish and some McCain jacket potatoes and Alan got all the meaty offerings. My brother took all the desserts and ice-creams, he's veg phobic!!
I am enjoying the afternoon tv watching far too much. Need to get Back To Work again. Will check out Until I Kill You and see if it's for me.
DeleteReady meals for a few nights won't kill me, and already (after two offerings) I want something different! Have a Pukka Pie for tomorrow. Not the world's best but quick and edible with a plate of fresh veg for company.
