Flooding at Petra this week
Petra Flooding. This link should take you to a video showing the dreadful flash flooding at Petra. A Belgian woman and her son were drowned and 1800 tourists evacuated. There are various videos on Youtube or associated with various newspapers which will give you more of an idea how bad it was. You could see what 2000 years of similar flash floods had done with water smoothed rocks in the canyon into the site, and erasure of ancient carvings. And to the idiots who typed "fossil fuels" in the comments beneath one video as a reason for the flooding - get a new brain eh?
Oh gosh, that would be terrifying, but as you say they must be used to it after all these years. It brings it home to you something like this happening at a place that you have visited doesn't it. So sad about the two that lost their lives.
Would definitely want to get out of the PDQ if it started raining heavily.Thank goodness you weren't there now
